Relentless and Procedure-Based Anti-Drug Operations in August:
PRO 7 Arrests 821 Illegal Drug Suspects, Seizes P21.48 Million Worth of Illegal Drugs
More than P21.48 million worth of illegal drugs were taken off the streets of Central Visayas in August as the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) intensified its campaign against the illegal drug trade, resulting in the arrest of 821 drug suspects in 753 police operations.
The accomplishment highlights PRO7’s sustained efforts to make communities safer and protect families from the harmful effects of illegal drugs, in support of the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) thrust for safer communities.
The operations, which included buy-bust operations, service of warrants of arrest, checkpoints, and police responses, resulted in the confiscation of 3,158.05 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, valued at P21,474,719.60.
Police also seized ma*****na dried leaves and plants worth P9,408.00, bringing the total estimated value of illegal drugs confiscated during the month to P21,484,127.60.
The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) recorded the biggest drug haul among PRO7’s operating units, with illegal drugs valued at P5,580,776.00 confiscated.
It was followed by the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) with P4,680,516.00; Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) with P3,736,576.00; Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) with P3,710,943.60; Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) with P2,822,000.00; and Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) with P953,316.00.
PRO7 Regional Director PBGen Arnold E Abad commended the operating units and personnel for their sustained efforts in dismantling the illegal drug trade and keeping dangerous substances away from communities.
“PRO 7’s fight against illegal drugs will remain aggressive, procedure-based, and uncompromising. With the support of the Central Visayas community, we shall continue our momentum in the fight against the illegal drugs menace,” PBGen Abad said.
He stressed that the campaign goes beyond street-level operations, with PRO7 continuing to strengthen intelligence-driven, coordinated, and focused police operations against individuals and networks involved in the illegal drug trade.
The Regional Director emphasized that the intensified campaign is consistent with the PNP’s focus agenda of delivering “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman” to the people of Central Visayas.
PRO7 likewise called on the public to remain vigilant and be active partners in the fight against illegal drugs by promptly reporting suspected drug-related activities in their communities.
“Report, and help us protect our families and communities. Together, we can keep illegal drugs off our streets and make Central Visayas safer for everyone,” PBGen Abad said.
