The Office of the Sangguniang Bayan of La Trinidad invites the public to participate in the upcoming Public Consultation on the following proposed ordinances:

1. Amending Section 6(f) of Ordinance No. 29-2018 otherwise known as the “La Trinidad Bantay Basura Ordinance”

2. Establishing healthy open spaces in the Municipality of La Trinidad, Benguet, providing for its utilization and maintenance for the promotion of health and environment advocacies, and appropriating funds therefor and for other purposes.

𝗠𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗢𝗕𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗔 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗗

The municipal government of La Trinidad concluded its community-based celebration of Men's Day on June 19 and 26, 2026 in barangays Alno and Shilan.

Seeking to promote health, wellness, and overall well-being, 80 males of all ages gathered for a lecture on Breaking the Stigma on Men's Mental Health, which encouraged participants to openly discuss concerns, seek help, and foster a culture of support among one another.

To promote holistic health, participants also availed of various free health and wellness services, including:
• YAKAP Empanelment
• Health Risk Assessment
• Nutrition Counseling and BMI Assessment
• Laboratory Services (Blood Glucose, Uric Acid, Cholesterol, and Urinalysis)
• HIV Screening
• Eye Screening
• Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Testing
• Free Haircuts
• Massage Services

Mayor Roderick Awingan encouraged participants not to be afraid of reaching out for medical help or mental health support, emphasizing that taking care of one's health is a strength, not a weakness.

Councilor Horacio Ramos Jr., committee chair on health, added that bringing these vital medical and psychological services directly to the grassroots ensures that no man is left behind.

The activity emphasized the importance of prioritizing both physical and mental health while encouraging men to become active partners in building healthier families, stronger communities, and a more productive town.

Ordinance No. 4-2021 also known as the La Trinidad Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Code supports the annual observance of Men's Day.

𝗟𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗻𝗼

Close to 40 men attended the La Trinidad Men's Day Celebration in Barangay Alno with the theme: "Breaking the stigma on men's mental health" with resource speaker Cashmir Cabalo of the Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education.

Mayor Roderick C. Awingan encouraged the men to speak out and ask for help because it is not only women who are experiencing mental health challenges but also men. Councilor Horacio Ramos Jr., who heads the committee on health, was also present during the activity encouraging the men to seek help, as they are not alone in their struggles.

Now on its sixth year, the Men's Day program aims to involve men in the municipality in the various issues surrounding the family and community. Population Program Officer III Maria Lourdes Taguiba said the next schedule for the event, in partnership with the Municipal Health Services Office, will be on June 26 at Barangay Shilan.

May 14, 2026 | The Municipality of La Trinidad conducted a public hearing on the proposed ordinance institutionalizing the sectoral representation of women in the Sangguniang Bayan of La Trinidad, Benguet, including the provision of funds and other related purposes, in support of strengthened women’s participation in local governance and decision-making.

Also discussed were proposed policies promoting the use of Indigenous language signages in all public comfort rooms within the municipality and strengthening the La Trinidad weaving sector by safeguarding Cordillera Indigenous textile designs through the prohibition of machine-made replica woven products.

The Local Government Unit of La Trinidad successfully conducted a two-day Gender and Development (GAD) Capability-Building Activity on May 6-7, 2026 at Ynad’s Place, San Fernando, La Union, participated in by GAD focal persons from various municipal offices, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The activity focused on strengthening GAD policies, gender mainstreaming, advocacy, and gender-responsive public service through discussions and workshops on policy-making, Social Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC), platform skills, TED Talks, and digital presentation tools.

Ms. Maria Lourdes G. Taguiba presented the current status and accomplishments of the LGU-La Trinidad GAD, highlighting the functionality of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), existing GAD initiatives, and advocacy efforts. Meanwhile, Atty. Delmar O. Cariño facilitated sessions on policy-making and SBCC, encouraging participants to go beyond traditional IEC approaches and promote positive behavioral change through community engagement and advocacy.

Engr. Felipe P. Esnara Jr. shared valuable insights on effective communication and platform skills, highlighting that thorough preparation must be observed when presenting, while Mr. Orlando B. Pacya introduced Canva and emphasized the integration of digital tools for efficiency and effective communication. He also stressed that teamwork and collaboration remain equally important in adapting these tools for advocacy work.

The activity also resulted in the drafting of proposed policies on gender mainstreaming, gender-fair language, s*x-disaggregated data, GAD planning and budgeting, institutionalization of a GAD office, and the promotion of women’s rights, which will be presented to the Executive Committee for proper action.

The Municipality of La Trinidad continues to strengthen its commitment to inclusive and gender-responsive governance through the sustained support of Mayor Roderick C. Awingan and his administration for Gender and Development initiatives.
