Personnel of the Arakan Municipal Police Station, under the supervision of PMAJ REYNANTE C. PASCUA, Chief of Police, conducted an information and awareness lecture at Badiangon National High School, Barangay Badiangon, Arakan, Cotabato, focusing on three important topics: Drug Awareness, Active Shooter Awareness, and Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).
During the Drug Awareness Lecture, the participants were educated on the harmful effects and consequences of illegal drug use, the various forms of drug-related activities, and the importance of community participation in preventing drug abuse, particularly among the youth. The discussion emphasized the role of students, parents, teachers, and community stakeholders in promoting a drug-free and safe environment.
The Active Shooter Awareness Lecture focused on basic safety and survival measures during an active shooter or armed attack incident. The participants were oriented on the โRun, Hide, Fightโ principle and were reminded of the importance of remaining calm, being vigilant and aware of their surroundings, following established emergency procedures, and immediately reporting suspicious persons or activities to the proper authorities.
Meanwhile, the CICL Lecture provided the participants with information regarding the proper treatment, protection, and handling of Children in Conflict with the Law, with emphasis on their rights, welfare, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the community. The discussion also highlighted the shared responsibility of parents, teachers, law enforcement personnel, and other stakeholders in preventing children from becoming involved in criminal activities and in providing appropriate guidance and support to at-risk youth.
The activity successfully provided the students with relevant knowledge and practical information aimed at promoting drug prevention, personal safety, crime prevention, and the protection and welfare of children. It likewise strengthened the partnership between the PNP, school authorities, students, and the community in maintaining a safe, secure, and peaceful learning environment.
