Passing on the Inspiration: A Legacy of Service
True leadership and dedication within the military tradition are not just taught; they are passed down through generations. This enduring spirit was beautifully demonstrated recently at West Visayas State University - Main Campus Air Force ROTC Office. Under the leadership of our Commandant, LTC RENE P PIABOL JR PAF, the unit proudly extended its heartfelt appreciation to Ma'am Rosalie Santa Maria-Dumo, the esteemed former Corps Commander of Class 1997, for her generous donation of a new television set. The contribution was officially received on behalf of the unit by SSg Judie F Layno PAF, Assistant NCOIC, and AM Henry S Castillo Jr PAF, Military Training Instructor, together with SSg Maria Christina B Lachica PAF (Res), Graduate Military Assistant.
Behind this thoughtful contribution lies a story that perfectly illustrates what it means to look beyond personal motivation toward a higher calling of service and excellence. Reflecting on her time with the unit, Ma'am Santa Maria-Dumo fondly recalled, "itong TV ang naging motivation ko para mag-duty dito dati". What once served as a simple, practical incentive during her cadet officer days has now come full circle, transforming into a meaningful gift meant to inspire the next generation of cadets.
Generous support of this nature does more than just upgrade a facility; it empowers and elevates the entire unit. It serves as a tangible reminder for the current corps of cadets to continue serving with pride, discipline, and unwavering dedication. Through this act of giving back, a powerful legacy of inspiration is sustained, ensuring that the flame of leadership continues to burn brightly at the heart of Panay โ 526th Department of Military Science and Tactics, Iloilo.
