𝐏𝐎𝐕: 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐆 𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐘

Before I became a parent, I always used to say, “My values and morals do not reflect my father’s.”

Now that I am a parent myself, I have come to realize something deeper: the kind of parent we choose to be will eventually be reflected in our children.

In our home, we do not allow shouting. If you want to be heard, express yourself without disrespecting others. We do not simply say “No” without explaining why something is not proper. We teach Eli Boy to say “po” and “opo” as signs of respect. These are the values we instill in Eli Boy, and he carries them with him wherever he goes—even in school.

As a parent, I feel proud whenever people tell me that he is well-mannered, respectful, and behaves properly.

I never aspire to be a perfect parent. I simply want to be present, intentional, and effective. My prayer is that when the time comes, Eli Boy will not only excel in school but will also grow into a respectful, responsible, and compassionate member of society.

That is why I genuinely appreciate this Responsableng Ginikanan Academy (RG Academy) initiative of our LGU—not because I am an official, but because I have witnessed the dedication, passion, and countless hours invested by the people who conceptualized and worked tirelessly to make this program possible.

At its core, RG Academy is not about politics. It is about parenting. It is about equipping mothers, fathers, guardians, and families with the values, knowledge, and guidance needed to raise children of good character.

Let us not allow this initiative to be overshadowed simply because Mayor Richard Garin happens to be the one currently serving. Nor should we politicize every program just because our preferred candidate did not win the election.

Some things are bigger than politics.

The future of our children is one of them.

If there is anything worth investing our time and energy in, it is helping parents become better guides for the next generation. Because at the end of the day, parenting is not about raising perfect children—it is about raising good human beings with strong values, good character, and hearts that care for others.

And that is something we should all support. ❤️
