The opening program was held at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol Social Hall, attended by Hon. Vice Mayor John Paulo M. Alvarez, together with Bryan Neil U. Piojo, Tourism Officer Designate. They proudly shared with attendees one of Ilog’s finest local delicacies — Ilog’s Best Bukayo!

Earlier today, the Municipal Government of Ilog, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor John Paul K. Alvarez, successfully conducted the Food Safety, Food Labeling, Food Packaging, and Avoiding AI Slop & Effective Digital Marketing for MSMEs Training in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Negros Occidental and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Negros Occidental at Sharinas Function Hall, Brgy. Dancalan, Ilog.

The activity was graced by Hon. Vice Mayor John Paulo Alvarez, Hon. Edsel L. Magbato, Sangguniang Bayan Member and Chairperson on Tourism, and Engr. Glady T. Reyes, Assistant Provincial Director of DOST Negros Occidental.

Participants gained valuable knowledge from DOST resource speakers Engr. Ellin Grace Andana and Engr. John Michael Tingson, who discussed Food Safety, Mandatory Food Labeling, and Food Packaging—essential practices in ensuring quality and market readiness of local products.

Meanwhile, resource speakers from DTI Negros Occidental—Ms. Liza F. Ganchoon, Ms. Hyrene C. Notar, and Mr. Harklee D. Granada—shared practical strategies on Avoiding AI Slop and Effective Digital Marketing for MSMEs, empowering local entrepreneurs to maximize digital platforms while maintaining authenticity and quality in their online presence.

This initiative reflects the Municipal Government of Ilog's continuing commitment to strengthening the capabilities of our local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to produce safe, competitive, and market-ready products in today's digital economy.

📢 INVITATION: DOT NIR NDRM 2026 Webinar on Tourism Disaster Resilience🌊

In observance of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026, the Department of Tourism – Negros Island Region (DOT-NIR) Disaster Risk Reduction and Crisis Management Committee (DRRCMC), in partnership with the Negros Oriental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), invites all Local Tourism Officers, accredited tourism stakeholders, and industry partners to an essential learning session on building safe and disaster-resilient destinations.

Aligned with this year's theme, “NAGHAHANDA at KUMIKILOS tungo sa PANATAG na BAGONG PILIPINAS,” this webinar highlights the vital role of the DRRM pillars in protecting our eco-tourism assets, safeguarding communities and visitors, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Negros Island Region's tourism ecosystem.

Have you ever wondered where the name "Ilog" originated?

According to historical accounts, the name "Ilog" was recommended to the Spanish military command by a Tagalog interpreter and guide from Ilog de Abra during the Spanish colonial period. Since the settlement was surrounded by numerous rivers and waterways, the interpreter suggested the name "Ilog," the Tagalog word meaning "river." The Spanish authorities adopted the recommendation, and the community eventually became known as the Municipality of Ilog.

The name perfectly reflects the town's geography and its enduring connection to the rivers that have sustained its people, shaped its history, and contributed to its identity for generations.

🌊 Today, the name "Ilog" continues to symbolize the municipality's rich natural heritage and the vital role of its rivers in the lives of every Ilognon.
