𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐒' 𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 || 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬: 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞

The verdant fields of DA INREC Batac Station buzzed with excitement as farmers, agricultural experts, and local officials gathered for the "Farmers' Field Day, held on May 21-22, 2025."

This event is a collaborative effort with 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐚 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢, 𝐒𝐭. 𝐑𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐩𝐢 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥 showcasing the latest advancements in lowland vegetable cultivation, promising sweeter harvests and greener futures for Ilocos Norte farmers.

The two-day celebration provided a valuable platform for knowledge and demonstration of innovative farming techniques.

Experts like Mr. Gernani Delos Santos from Chai Thai and Jun Ramos Ephi Phil. gave farmers and LGUs the chance to learn about a high-yielding vegetable types that are appropriate for the area.

𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐬, 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 of DA Regional Field Office 1 (DARFO1), and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐬, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 of the Field Operations Division are actively involved, underscoring the Department of Agriculture's commitment to farmer empowerment.

𝗠𝗿. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮ñ𝗮𝗻𝗼, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗼𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲, and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶ñ𝗼, 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, both highlighted the strong support from local legislative bodies and provided insightful viewpoints on sustainable agricultural techniques. Senior Agriculturist Mr. Erwin Aquino also added his knowledge to the conversations.

The field day drew a significant number of participants, including Agriculturists from various Local Government Units and enthusiastic farmers eager to adopt new methods. They explored demonstration plots, engaged in discussions, and witnessed the potential to increased productivity and profitability in lowland vegetable farming.

𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑4𝐃𝐄 𝐈𝐧-𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰

𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐜, 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 – Researchers from Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur gathered recently for a dynamic in-house review to present a total of 12 papers showcasing advancements in both research and development with one effort sponsored by the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) and eleven backed by the General Appropriations Act (GAA) held on May 15-16,2025 at DA- INREC, Batac Station.

The in-house review served as a platform for critical evaluation, with Mr. Mark Ariel L. Agressor and Ms. Melinda G. Calumpit serving as the esteemed evaluators.

The research category included eight of the GAA-funded works, indicating a dedication to fundamental research and knowledge. Three initiatives financed by the GAA were showcased in the development category. Notably, researchers from Dingras, Batac, and San Juan actively implemented and presented "IRISE 4 Rice," a development program centered on innovation in rice agriculture.

The single BAR-funded paper presented was titled "Sustainable Community-based Action R4DE for Livelihood Uplifting and Prosperity (SCALE-UP) Program in Ilocos Norte." This project underscores a collaborative approach to enhancing community well-being and economic growth within the province.

While the program boasted a
wide array of innovative projects, it was noted that two GAA-funded initiatives – the Casava project from Dingras and the Soybean project from ISRec – were listed in the program but ultimately not presented during the review.

The internal study highlighted Ilocos Norte's thriving research and development environment, where local talent plays a vital role in advancing agriculture and empowering communities.
