HOLY WEEK 2026 HIGHLIGHTS โœจ๐Ÿ™

A week of faith, service, preparedness, and unity.

From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, the MDRRMO Hinundayan, together with HERO responders, RHU, PNP, BFP, BDRRMCs, and partner agencies, remained on full alert and active deployment to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of the public during the observance of Holy Week 2026.

Through continuous monitoring, emergency preparedness, medical standby, traffic management, coastal roving, and inter-agency coordination, all activities were carried out peacefully and safely across the municipality.

This yearโ€™s Holy Week operations reflected the dedication, teamwork, and commitment of every responder and volunteer in serving the people of Hinundayan.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), in coordination with the Municipal Development Council (MDC), successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter Joint MDRRMC & MDC Special Meeting on May 21, 2026 at the SB Session Hall, which centered on the preparations for the upcoming Town Fiesta activities, with emphasis on the activation and readiness of Emergency Response Teams to ensure public safety, efficient coordination, and effective emergency response operations throughout the duration of the celebration. Discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming Tour de Southern Leyte 2026 scheduled on June 12โ€“14, 2026, including inter-agency coordination and safety measures, as well as the announcement of schedules for the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). The Tsunami Ready Program was likewise discussed as a key initiative toward strengthening disaster preparedness and advancing the municipalityโ€™s goal of becoming a Tsunami Ready Municipality.

Meanwhile, during the MDC meeting proper, proposed Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) for CY 2027 were presented and discussed for planning and development purposes. The activity gathered MDRRMC members, MDC members, barangay officials, stakeholders, and partner offices in support of collaborative governance, public safety, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable community development.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), in coordination with the Municipal Development Council (MDC), successfully conducted the 2nd Quarter Joint MDRRMC & MDC Meeting on May 04, 2026 at the Hinundayan Municipal Gym.

The meeting primarily focused on the prioritization of Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) geared towards enhancing the municipalityโ€™s disaster preparedness, prevention and mitigation, response, recovery, and overall community development initiatives. Discussions also emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination, strategic planning, and resource allocation to address the current and emerging needs of the municipality.

The activity was attended by MDRRMC member agencies, barangay officials, CSO, department heads who actively participated in identifying and recommending priority PPAs that will contribute to the continuous improvement of public service delivery, disaster resilience, and sustainable development efforts of the Municipality of Hinundayan.

Through collaborative planning and collective decision-making, the municipality remains committed to building a safer, more prepared, and resilient community for all.

This initiative aims to ensure that every barangay is equipped with updated, practical, and well-integrated camp management strategies that are responsive to both national standards and the specific needs of the local community. By strengthening coordination, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and enhancing planning mechanisms, each barangay is better prepared to manage evacuation centers efficiently and effectively.

Through continuous collaboration, capacity-building, and technical guidance, we further enhance our ability to provide safe, organized, and people-centered evacuation supportโ€”ensuring the protection, dignity, and well-being of affected individuals during emergencies.

SITUATIONAL REPORT | Easter Sunday Monitoring
April 5, 2026

Under the leadership of Hon. Evelyn T. Lee, Municipal Mayor and MDRRMC Chairperson, the MDRRMO Hinundayan, together with RHU, PNP, BFP, and Hinundayan Emergency Response Operatives (HERO), conducted full deployment and monitoring for Easter Sunday activities.

Personnel were strategically deployed at Hinundayan Wharf and Cat-iwing Beach to ensure public safety and provide immediate response due to the high influx of beachgoers.

Activated BDRRMCs from Cat-iwing, Sagbok, Ambao, District I, District II, An-an, and Sabang strengthened community-level monitoring and emergency response, particularly in coastal barangays and Brgy Cabulisan for river monitoring.

PNP personnel were deployed in beach areas to maintain peace and order, assist beachgoers, and ensure safety compliance. A coastal roving operation using a speedboat from OMAS was also conducted by MDRRMO, OMAS, PNP, and RHU to monitor activities and ensure safety in coastal waters.

Continuous dissemination of weather advisories from DOST-PAGASA and monitoring of the Area of Responsibility (AOR) were undertaken to maintain situational awareness.

No major incidents, damages, or disruptions were reported during the activity.

This reflects the strong coordination and commitment of all agencies in ensuring a safe, festive, and meaningful celebration of Easter Sunday.

SITUATIONAL REPORT | Black Saturday Monitoring
April 4, 2026

Under the leadership of Hon. Evelyn T. Lee, Municipal Mayor and MDRRMC Chairperson, the MDRRMO Hinundayan, together with RHU, PNP, BFP, and Hinundayan Emergency Response Operatives (HERO), conducted monitoring and preparedness activities for Black Saturday.

MDRRMO personnel maintained continuous operations at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for monitoring, coordination, and reporting. Response teams were placed on standby and strategically positioned to ensure public safety during Holy Week activities.

PNP personnel were stationed at Hinundayan Terminal, Municipal Plaza, and San Jose Parish Church to maintain peace and order, with support from force multipliers and assistance desks for the public.

BFP personnel were also deployed to ensure fire safety and preparedness, including the establishment of an assistance desk and distribution of fire safety information materials.

Weather updates and advisories from DOST-PAGASA were continuously disseminated to BDRRMCs and MDRRMC members to ensure situational awareness.

No major incidents, damages, or disruptions were reported.

This reflects the continued commitment of all agencies in ensuring a safe, peaceful, and well-coordinated observance of Holy Week.
