The Municipality of Jordan, led by Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, marked the first day of the yuletide season with a flag-raising ceremony on September 1, 2026, hosted by the Municipal Engineering Office.

In his message, Mayor GANDO welcomed the contingents from the Philippine Army, headed by MSg. Rammel A. Ilagan, who was newly assigned to the municipality, together with Sgt. Decion Joe Gahum. He also congratulated the Municipal Health Office for the successful YAKAP Fun Run held on August 29, 2026.

Mayor GANDO reminded municipal employees of their solemn duty to serve the people and the municipal government. He likewise extended his early greetings to everyone, wishing all a happy and colorful celebration of the yuletide season.

In attendance during the flag-raising ceremony were Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Gerardo Gaitan, personnel from the PNP and BFP, department heads, unit and section heads, and municipal employees.

The Municipality of Jordan, under the leadership of Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, through the Municipal Health Office, in partnership with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth Satellite Officeโ€“Guimaras), held the PhilHealth YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) Para Malayo sa Sakit Run 2026 โ€“ Guimaras Leg on August 29, 2026, at the Jordan Municipal Hall Grounds.

A total of 294 runners participated in the 3KM and 5KM categories, composed of personnel from PhilHealth Region VI, government employees, partner agencies, and participants from within and outside Guimaras. The activity aimed to promote Universal Health Care (UHC) and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among the community.

In his message, Mayor GANDO expressed his gratitude to PhilHealth for choosing the Municipality of Jordan as the venue for this yearโ€™s YAKAP Run and extended his appreciation to all PhilHealth personnel who traveled early to Guimaras to participate and support the event.

Mayor GANDO emphasized that health services remain among the municipalityโ€™s priorities. He shared that the Botika sang Jordanians will soon open, reflecting his simple dream of providing support to indigent residents and making essential services closer to the people.

He likewise expressed his appreciation to Municipal Health Officer Dr. Robel T. Gencianeo and the department heads for their cooperation and support in making the activity a success. He also shared the municipalityโ€™s continued efforts to increase its First Patient Encounter (FPE).

In attendance during the event were PRO VI Regional Vice President Marjorie A. Cabrieto, together with Mr. Junie C. Sabusap, FOD Head; Ms. Dinah P. Gelvezon, ColSec Head; Mr. Garry Zabala, MMS Head; and PhilHealth OIC-PSO Guimaras Raul Sebastian G. Belita III.

The Municipal Government of Jordan, led by Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, through its Tourism Section, will once again display its SUBLI Art Exhibit with the theme, โ€œTIPONโ€ An Art Exhibition of Guimaras Artists.

This Tourism Month, we celebrate not only the places we visit, but also the stories, traditions, creativity, and people that give every place its unique identity.

In celebration of this meaningful occasion, we invite you to ๐—ฆ๐—จ๐—•๐—Ÿ๐—œ: ๐—ง๐—œ๐—ฃ๐—ข๐—ก, an art exhibition centered on the idea of tipon, a gathering of people, stories, ideas, and experiences.

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office VI has ๐—š๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ก๐—ง๐—˜๐—— the request of Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO for the adjustment of the first trips of operators plying the Jordan, Guimarasโ€“Iloilo City route and vice versa, in line with the ๐—ฃ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฌ๐—”๐—ž๐—”๐—ฃ ๐—ฅ๐˜‚๐—ป 2026 of the Municipality of Jordan.

In line with this, the first trips on ๐—”๐˜‚๐—ด๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜ 29, 2026, will depart at 4:30 ๐—”.๐— . from Parola Wharf to accommodate the anticipated influx of tourists and guests attending the event.

This adjustment aims to ensure safe, reliable, convenient, and continuous transportation services for passengers and rolling cargo.

The Expanded Local Health Board held its regular meeting on August 26, 2026, at the Mayorโ€™s Hall, presided over by Atty. John Edward G. GANDO.

During the meeting, Ms. Fria Angeli Pascubillo presented the accomplishments of the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA), a mass vaccination campaign led by the Department of Health and conducted from August 10-25, 2026. It was reported that the campaign achieved an 87% accomplishment rate, surpassing the target of 57.21%.

Meanwhile, the Disease Surveillance Report for August 2026 recorded five (5) cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD), one (1) case of Leptospirosis, and eleven (11) cases of Dengue Fever.

The Board also discussed updates on the preparations for the PhilHealth YAKAP Fun Run 2026, which is scheduled for August 29, 2026. Registration for the event will be free of charge, and cash prizes and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers.

Under the ZOD Program, the โ‚ฑ500,000 grant from the Department of Health (DOH) will be used for the construction of sanitary toilets. Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Morobuan that have not yet achieved Zero Open Defecation status will be monitored and assisted until they meet the programโ€™s requirements.

Mayor GANDO also announced that Botika sang Jordanians is expected to open in the first week of September. Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Ma. Sheila Gange further shared that the YAKAP-accredited partnership with Universal Eye Check Optical Corporation has already been approved by the Sangguniang Bayan.

The Municipal Government of Jordan, led by Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, through its Tourism Section, will conduct a Tourism Digital Photography Workshop for tourism-related transport drivers.

With the theme โ€œFrom the Road to the Lens: Drivers Capturing the Stories of Jordan,โ€ this workshop aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in digital photography, particularly in using smartphones and digital cameras to capture tourism destinations, scenic views, cultural activities, local communities, and unique experiences encountered along their routes.

The workshop recognizes transport drivers as frontline tourism ambassadors who play an important role in promoting Jordan through authentic visual stories. Participants will be trained in basic photography principles, including proper composition, lighting, framing, perspective, and responsible tourism photography.

Through this initiative, the Municipal Tourism section shall continue to strengthen community participation in tourism promotion and encourage the documentation of Jordanโ€™s destinations, people, culture, and everyday tourism experiences.

The Expanded Local School Board, chaired by Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, held a special meeting on August 26, 2026, at the Mayorโ€™s Hall to finalize preparations for the Jordan Schools Athletic Association Meet (Municipal Meet) scheduled on September 8โ€“9, 2026.

During the meeting, the Board discussed amendments to the Three-Year Plan for 2026โ€“2028, particularly the allocation of financial assistance to the two districts and two high schools for the conduct of Jordan Schools Sports Meet and the proposed budget for the Municipal Meet.

Mayor GANDO directed all concerned personnel to coordinate closely on the preparation of the venues, equipment and other materials needed, as well as the necessary budget and logistical requirements to ensure the successful conduct of the Municipal Meet.
