The Municipality of Jordan, under the leadership of Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, in partnership with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Guimaras Field Office and the Provincial Government of Guimaras, conducted the CSC Mobile Filing Program with the theme, โ€œBringing Government Services Closer to the Peopleโ€ on June 4, 2026, at the Jordan Tourism Lobby.

Interested applicants for the Career Service Examination โ€“ Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) may submit their applications through the mobile filing service from 9:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon today. The examination is scheduled on August 9, 2026, with Jordan, serving as one of the designated testing centers.

The CSC Mobile Filing Program aims to make application processing more accessible and convenient for Guimarasnons intending to take the upcoming Civil Service Exam.

Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO led a storytelling session for the Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG) officers of Jordan Central School during the Brigada Eskwela 2026 Division Kick-Off Program on June 2, 2026.

During the activity, Mayor GANDO shared the well-loved children's book "Si Langgam at si Tipaklong," written by Virgilio S. Almario, which emphasizes the importance of saving, perseverance, and preparing for the future. Following the storytelling session, the learners actively shared their reflections and insights on the lessons they learned from the story.

Mayor GANDO also engaged the learners in a sharing about their dream professions and aspirations. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Municipal Government to support educational programs and initiatives that help learners achieve their goals and build a brighter future.

The Municipality of Jordan, under the leadership of Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, marked a significant milestone as Jordan Central School (JCS) was selected by the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Guimaras as the first elementary school to host the Brigada Eskwela 2026 Division Kick-Off Program on June 2, 2026. This yearโ€™s program carried the theme, โ€œBayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman.โ€

Mayor GANDO emphasized that strong partnerships among the government, community, and stakeholders are essential in sustaining quality education. Quoting former U.S. President John F. Kennedyโ€™s 1961 inaugural address, he reminded everyone: โ€œAsk not what your country can do for youโ€”ask what you can do for your country.โ€ He encouraged all stakeholders to continue supporting young learners as they pursue their dreams and aspirations.

The Brigada Eskwela 2026 Division Kick-Off Program was attended by Vice Mayor Anna Philippa Nava; Sangguniang Bayan member Hon. Municipal Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO called for an urgent meeting with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and ferry operators plying the Jordanโ€“Parola route and vice versa to address concerns over the long queues of passengers at both Jordan and Parola Wharves. The meeting was held on June 2, 2026, at the Municipal Conference Hall.

During the meeting, social media footage of the situation at Jordan and Parola Wharves was presented, showing how the long queues adversely affected commuters. It was found that several fiber vessels were undergoing drydocking, including Ferries 1, 6, 8, and 14 of the Guimaras Island Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GITMPC), as well as MV Margaux and MV Manocmanoc operated by Buenavista and Jordan Ferry Inc., and one ferry from 3S Uno Transport Corp.

The mandatory drydocking process usually takes seven to ten days. However, some vessels are also undergoing compliance requirements involving damage control plans, electrical plans, and the issuance of safety certificates before they can resume operations.

MARINA, represented by Atty. Nicole Marie Amuan-Arpa and Engr. Von Floyd Aranas, assured stakeholders that the agency would expedite and fast-track the necessary processes to ensure the continued operation of the fiber vessels without compromising safety. Meanwhile, Mayor GANDO suggested that the operators make a joint appeal to the MARINA Administrator to prioritize the processing of Guimaras fiber vessels.

In attendance were Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Gerardo Gaitan; LTJG Leomer G. Magbanua, Station Commander of the PCG Jordan Sub-Station; Ms. Connie G. Garcia, Chairwoman of GITMPC; and representatives from 3S Transport Services Corp., and Buenavista and Jordan Ferry Inc. (BJFI).

The Municipality of Jordan, under the leadership of Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, recognized the achievements of Hubon Bulantihan during the flag-raising ceremony held on June 1, 2026, at the Municipal Grounds. The group was honored for securing the 1st Runner-Up title in the Cultural Competition of the Manggahan Festival 2026 and for winning the Best in Production Design Award. Mayor GANDO expressed his optimism and determination to come back stronger for Manggahan 2027.

In his message, Mayor GANDO announced that the municipality has been granted โ‚ฑ20 million under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF). Of this amount, โ‚ฑ10 million will be allocated for the improvement of the access road crossing Aguilay, located at the back of the Municipal Hall, while the remaining โ‚ฑ10 million will be used for the improvement of the Tourism Building.

Furthermore, he shared that Jordan will be the first municipality in the province to roll out the Rice Subsidy Program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., with distribution set to begin next week. Qualified senior citizens are set to receive 10 kilograms of rice during the months of June, July, August, October, November, and December.

The program, hosted by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), was attended by Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon. Gerardo Gaitan, Hon. Ma. Sheila Gange, Hon. Rolyn Faith Sayo, and Hon. Rizza Joy Caro, along with municipal employees and representatives from the PNP, BFP, PCG, DILG, and COMELEC.

The Municipality of Jordan, under the leadership of Mayor Atty. John Edward G. GANDO, held the culminating activity of the โ€œGame On: Train to Win Sports Clinic sa Bag-o nga Jordanโ€ through a skills demonstration on June 1, 2026, at the Municipal Covered Gym.

The sports clinic, which ran from April 21 to May 30, provided free training in taekwondo, archery, and arnis, giving young athletes the opportunity to develop their skills, discipline, and passion for sports.

In his message, Mayor GANDO congratulated the participants and their parents for their dedication and commitment throughout the training period. He shared that the success of the sports clinic further strengthens his resolve to continue supporting sports development programs in the municipality in preparation for the upcoming Municipal and Provincial Meets. He added that the young athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their talents during the municipalityโ€™s Foundation Celebration.

The mayor also announced upcoming improvements to the Municipal Covered Gym, including the installation of air-conditioning units and the allocation of funds for the construction and enhancement of comfort room facilities.

Among the key agenda items discussed were the amendment of the Local School Board Three-Year Plan for 2026โ€“2028 and the approval of the supplemental budget for Brigada Eskwela, particularly for Jordan Central Schoolโ€™s hosting of the 2026 Brigada Eskwela Division Kick-Off Ceremony on June 2, 2026.

This year marks a milestone as Jordan Central School becomes the first elementary school to host the Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off Ceremony.
