Bringing together exceptional conservation storytellers from across the Panay region whose applications stood out among many talented applicants, the first SugidDagat workshop of CurrentShift was successfully conducted from May 9 at Camp Alfredo to May 10 at Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands National Park in Guimaras Province.

The initiative aims to build an intentional community of storytellers, artists, and science communicators dedicated to making science more accessible across the region and the Philippines. Among the members of the SugidDagat Project team is SK Chairperson Alester John Gallarda, representing the Morobuan fisherfolk community, where the rich marine life of the fishing village will be featured throughout the projectโ€™s 12-month duration.

A lecture on cyber hygiene and financial literacy was successfully conducted on April 29 at the Sitio Lutong Day Care Center in Morobuan, Jordan, Guimaras, led by representatives from the 3Zero Network Club.

The activity brought together the youth of Morobuan, along with SK officials from Balcon Maravilla and Sinapsapan. It aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills, empowering them to make informed and responsible decisions in an increasingly digital and financially complex world.
