Resumption of Tourism Activities in the Municipality of Flora, Apayao

In light of the latest advisory from PAGASA indicating that Tropical Depression Emong has weakened and that no wind signal is currently in effect over the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the Municipal Government of Flora, Apayao hereby announces the official lifting of the suspension on all tourism activities, effective today, July 26, 2025.

We encourage both residents and visitors to continue observing safety protocols while enjoying the various tourism offerings of our municipality.

PUBLIC ADVISORY

In light of the Typhoon "Emong", the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 is currently in effect over the western portion of Apayao, including the municipalities of Conner, Kabugao, and Calanasan. Meanwhile, TCWS No. 2 has been raised over the remaining areas of Apayao, specifically Flora, Luna, Pudtol, and Sta. Marcela.

As a precautionary measure, all tourism-related activities within the municipality are hereby temporarily suspended until further notice.

The public is strongly advised to remain alert and vigilant, and to continuously monitor official updates and advisories from relevant authorities regarding the evolving weather situation.

Let us prioritize safety and exercise caution during this time.

The possibility of mudslides, rock slides, rain-induced landslides, and flash floods poses a significant threat to everyone. In light of this weather condition, it is strongly advised that tourism stakeholders take all necessary measures to safeguard both lives and property.

Furthermore, it is strongly recommended that LGUs temporarily suspend outdoor tourism activities, including but not limited to mountain climbing, caving, and white-water rafting, in highly vulnerable areas within the Cordillera region.

The public is likewise advised to remain calm but alert and vigilant, and to constantly monitor developments related to the current weather conditions.

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐆𝐔𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐂𝐂 𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟

The Department of Tourism CAR successfully conducted the Virtual Orientation for the 2nd Cycle of the Tourism Champions Challenge (TCC) on July 3, 2025, gathering 51 participants from various LGUs across the Cordillera.

The event served as a platform to guide local government units in preparing for the TCC, which aims to support impactful and sustainable tourism projects in the region. Participants were welcomed with an inspirational message from RD Jovita A. Ganongan, followed by technical sessions from key officials and partners.

Among the highlights was the presentation on infrastructure project requirements by Engr. Gavria Anne Bohol, Civil Works Estimator from TIEZA, which clarified important processes for LGU implementers. Ms. Roanne Mae Ecle, Tourism Officer I from the DOT Office of Special Concerns, discussed the process and requirements for Tourist Rest Areas, while Mr. Filbert Ian Tan, Officer in Charge Chief of the same office, provided a comprehensive presentation on the 2nd TCC cycle guidelines, requirements, and timelines.

With strong engagement from participants and valuable insights from experts, the orientation marked a solid start to this year’s challenge, championing tourism development in the highlands through collaboration, innovation, and community empowerment.
