Assalamualaikum!
The Government of the Philippines remains fully committed to the successful implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and moving forward the Bangsamoro peace process. We are one with our peace partners and stakeholders in building a peaceful, stable, prosperous, and self-governing Bangsamoro where the gains of peace shall continue to uplift the lives of its people. Our shared journey toward long-lasting peace has required immense courage, sacrifice, and leadership from all sides. It is, therefore, our collective responsibility to protect, build on, and strengthen these hard-earned achievements.
In light of the challenges we continue to face, we must move with a greater sense of urgency and purpose. Beyond sustaining current peace gains, we are continuously improving the systems and mechanisms that support the peace process. This includes advocating for the inclusion of key peace priorities in the proposed 2027 national budget, ensuring that our collective aspirations receive the necessary institutional and adequate financial resources
While awaiting the appointment of the new Chair of the Government Peace Implementing Panel, the Office of the President remains firmly engaged. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remains unwavering in his commitment to the full implementation of the CAB and to preserving and expanding the dividends of peace for the future of the Bangsamoro.
As the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) gears up for its first regional parliamentary elections, we affirm our respect for the peaceful expression of views and aspirations by all stakeholders. We hope and pray for the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the landmark political exercise, which will enable your people to choose the leaders you rightfully deserve. To ensure the success of these landmark elections, safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and preserving an environment conducive to peace and stability must be the shared responsibility of all sectors of society.
For the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, all our initiatives are guided solely by our agencyโs mandate and should never be seen as interference in the electoral process or support for any political group or candidate. Our agency remains strictly non-partisan and committed to supporting peace, development, and institutional continuity in the BARMM. We believe that the peacebuilding process must transcend political transitions and administrations. As such, it is imperative that institutions that were established under the CAB continue to effectively function and serve the people regardless of changes in leadership.
Finally, I enjoin all our peace partners and stakeholders - local government units, civil society organizations, religious leaders, educators, women and youth groups, the private sector, the media, and every citizen of the Bangsamoro - to act as stewards of peace, development, and inclusivity. Peace agreements can only firmly take root and endure when everyone has a key role to play and is part of the peacebuilding process.
The OPAPRU remains committed to working closely with the BARMM government and various peace implementing mechanisms to secure the future of the Bangsamoro. For it is only through good governance, inclusive development, continued adherence to the CAB, and sustained cooperation among all stakeholders that we can realize our shared vision. Together, let us remain united in building a peaceful, economically vibrant, and development-oriented Bangsamoro for generations to come.
Shukran!
