Extension of availability of funds for victims of martial law during Marcos regime was APPROVED but the checks issued expired on Augudt 10, 2018. These checks were for claims approved by the Human Rights Victims Claims Board (HRVCB) before it closed on May 12, 2018.
The funds for the reparation of victims who suffered under the Marcos regime, as provided by RA10368, come from funds returned by Switzerland to the Philippine government adjudged by the Philippine Supreme Court as MARCOS' ILL-GOTTEN WEALTH.
The Commission on Human Rights will prepare the distribution of the unreleased cheques and replacement of the expired cheques. While the Landbank will also take steps to facilitate the encashment of the cheques, including those in the name of deceased payees provided the Landbank requirements are fulfilled.
The Congress resolution extends the maintenance, availability, and release of the funds for victims of Marcos Martial Law human rights violations until December 31, 2019
