Brgy. DELโ€™s U17 menโ€™s volleyball team proved they belong among the best after pushing Central to a thrilling five-set championship showdown. The match delivered explosive spikes, clutch rallies, and huge blocks at the net as both squads battled relentlessly for every point until the final whistle.

Central opened the match strong with a 25-18 victory in the first set, but DEL quickly responded with energy and aggression in the second, escaping with a tight 25-22 win to even the match.

Costillas emerged as one of DELโ€™s standout performers, unleashing powerful spikes that repeatedly pierced through Centralโ€™s defense. Team captain A***n Jhon Carlo Lamonon also drew attention with his smart court awareness, mixing in clever drop balls that kept defenders off balance throughout the game.

Central regained momentum in the third set with another 25-18 win, placing DEL under pressure once again. Refusing to back down, DEL answered with intensity in the fourth set and dominated their opponents, 25-15, to force a deciding fifth frame. Gerald Lauron energized the crowd with strong attacks alongside Costillas, helping spark crucial runs for DEL during key moments of the set.

Setter Reymark Butogon played a major role in orchestrating DELโ€™s offense, delivering precise sets that opened multiple attacking angles for the hitters. At the net, Keanly Brince Arceรฑo stood tall with impressive blocks and athletic jumps, while Junaibe Ortiz, Christopher Andan, and Krezael Gilbero provided crucial defensive stops against Centralโ€™s relentless attacks.

The deciding fifth set turned into a tense back-and-forth battle as both teams traded points and momentum. Long rallies kept the crowd on edge, with every possession carrying championship intensity. Despite DELโ€™s relentless effort and determination, Central managed to close out the final set and secure the victory.

Although the championship slipped away, Brgy. DEL earned admiration for its fighting spirit, teamwork, and never-back-down mentality. From explosive spikes to clutch saves and strong net defense, the young athletes showed they could compete with intensity against one of the toughest teams on the court.

Brgy. DELโ€™s U17 womenโ€™s volleyball team swayed the crowd with heart and hustle as they clashed with Central in a tightly contested match filled with momentum shifts, clutch scoring runs, and long, nerve-testing rallies.

In the opening set, DEL tried to keep pace but dropped the set, 18-25. Sairah Malalis scored the teamโ€™s first point, while Princess Kate L. Naparan delivered a clean service ace to give DEL an early 8-7 advantage. Saquinah Suarez, Joanna T. Anogot, and Ozzle Leill M. Lamonon also contributed attacks and defensive saves to keep the set competitive.

Central continued to dominate in the second set, handing DEL an 11-25 loss. Still, the DEL squad stayed aggressive on both ends of the floor, with Malalis once again opening the scoring for the team as the players continued to fight for every possession and rally.

DEL delivered their strongest stand in the third set, trading points toe-to-toe with scrappy defense and spikes. The volleybelles clutched rallies and extended possessions, pushing Central into uncomfortable exchanges before ultimately dropping a hard-fought 25-20 set.

Brgy. DEL came close to reaching the championship stage and the golden trophy, but despite the defeat, they still earned respect for their impressive performance and strong showing throughout the game.

The summer heat is intense, but the Don Enrique Lopez Menโ€™s and Womenโ€™s Volleyball teams are making it even hotter. After bringing pure fire to the court, theyโ€™ve officially secured their spots in the championship. Donโ€™t bother checking the forecast for May 9, 2026โ€”the only thing guaranteed is that itโ€™s going to be raining spikes.

Her story began at Don Enrique Lopez National High School, where she steadily built a reputation for excellence. In the classroom, she proved her academic capability. Beyond it, she immersed herself in various extracurricular activities that honed her skills and character. She was an athlete on the volleyball court, where she displayed discipline and teamwork. She was also a student leader in the Supreme Student Government, and even then, it was clear that she carried both talent and determination.

College, however, presented a different kind of challenge. It was no longer just about excelling in school but about surviving the realities that came with it. Glendel stepped into public service as the SK Secretary of the Don Enrique Lopez Sangguniang Kabataan Council, where she embraced responsibilities that required both time and commitment. At the same time, she found ways to sustain her education. By day, she was a college student attending classes and fulfilling academic requirements. By night, she worked as a wedding organizer, carefully planning events and ensuring that every detail met expectations. On weekends, she devoted herself to preparing resolutions and formal documents for the council. It was a demanding cycle, one that required discipline and sacrifice.

To many, Glendel was known for her cheerful personality. She was the one who could easily bring laughter into a room. Yet behind that bright disposition was a heart that carried silent struggles. In the midst of pursuing her dreams, she experienced a heartbreaking loss. Her grandmother, whom she deeply loved, passed away. Her death became a turning point that shook her world. For a time, her motivation faded, and the vision of graduating seemed distant and uncertain.

Still, she chose to move forward.

Despite the grief, despite the exhaustion, and despite the moments of doubt, Glendel held on to her dream. She continued to work, to serve, and to study. She embraced both the comfortable and uncomfortable paths. Step by step, she rebuilt her strength and regained her focus.

When she finally reached her goal, it was more than a personal victory. It was a tribute.

Glendelโ€™s story is a reminder that success is not always about speed or ease. It is about perseverance. It is about continuing even when the path is unclear. It is about honoring the people who believed in us and the younger version of ourselves who dared to dream.

As new doors of opportunity open before you, the entire DEL youth community takes pride in who you have become and in the promise of all that you are yet to achieve.
