Her story began at Don Enrique Lopez National High School, where she steadily built a reputation for excellence. In the classroom, she proved her academic capability. Beyond it, she immersed herself in various extracurricular activities that honed her skills and character. She was an athlete on the volleyball court, where she displayed discipline and teamwork. She was also a student leader in the Supreme Student Government, and even then, it was clear that she carried both talent and determination.
College, however, presented a different kind of challenge. It was no longer just about excelling in school but about surviving the realities that came with it. Glendel stepped into public service as the SK Secretary of the Don Enrique Lopez Sangguniang Kabataan Council, where she embraced responsibilities that required both time and commitment. At the same time, she found ways to sustain her education. By day, she was a college student attending classes and fulfilling academic requirements. By night, she worked as a wedding organizer, carefully planning events and ensuring that every detail met expectations. On weekends, she devoted herself to preparing resolutions and formal documents for the council. It was a demanding cycle, one that required discipline and sacrifice.
To many, Glendel was known for her cheerful personality. She was the one who could easily bring laughter into a room. Yet behind that bright disposition was a heart that carried silent struggles. In the midst of pursuing her dreams, she experienced a heartbreaking loss. Her grandmother, whom she deeply loved, passed away. Her death became a turning point that shook her world. For a time, her motivation faded, and the vision of graduating seemed distant and uncertain.
Still, she chose to move forward.
Despite the grief, despite the exhaustion, and despite the moments of doubt, Glendel held on to her dream. She continued to work, to serve, and to study. She embraced both the comfortable and uncomfortable paths. Step by step, she rebuilt her strength and regained her focus.
When she finally reached her goal, it was more than a personal victory. It was a tribute.
Glendelโs story is a reminder that success is not always about speed or ease. It is about perseverance. It is about continuing even when the path is unclear. It is about honoring the people who believed in us and the younger version of ourselves who dared to dream.
