I am… arranging books! I have ~5,000 of them (so it’ll take…… quite a lot of time hahahahahaha)

There are still a lot left for me to do so hang in there, don’t visit yet! Take note that Tankobonbon is NOT YET OPEN! ❌

When? I’m not sure. I don’t wanna present a half-hearted library to you, after all. It’s like I’m courting you with books here, and I hope to bring you something that you’re comfortable with. 🫶

What on earth is this long post again? Where is the professionalism? The business vibe? The concise statement? Well, it doesn’t exist! I write letters! This time, happy six years to Tankobonbon! I don’t know when exactly, probably September 1, or 9, or 20 (lol idk) but yeeeee! This library serves as my unconditional love and gratitude for books. I feel like a parent who didn’t mind working night and day just to provide everything my child wants, not because I have to, but because I wanted to and it’s worthy. Sometimes I even think no one would show up after making you wait so long, but idc! I like it! I’m loving it! That’s all that matters! (Probably! There’s rent to pay tho… so pls still come when we’re open… hahaha) Like, “ah, so this is what unconditional love is.” How ironic from my hatred towards the bookstore, huh? HAHDSHDHSH 😆 But love takes patience, time… and money. I’m trying to hang in there too.

Anyway! Enough melodrama! In case you missed my announcement in my stories, we won’t be at MIBF this year, too bad! But I’ll (hopefully) be there having my long-awaited day as a normal visitor. Are you going to MIBF too? Have you gotten your tickets yet? (I sure haven’t yet! I hope I don’t forget! HAHAHAHA)

For now, while waiting, pre-register for a library card on our website at tankobonbon.com ;) Pre-registered folks are one of the first ones that can visit the place and fight me over wrong lighting or bad water pressure.

I am looking for music suggestions that you wish for us to play inside the library as your reading BGM. Since we intend to acquire appropriate music licenses for them, there’s a *little* restriction for them. I’d appreciate if all fields can be filled out, but if not, I’ll find those information out for you.

Even if you’re not visiting our library, I’d still appreciate input in spreading the word of your favorite cozy anime song.

Hi all! Just an update~

How’s the summer anime so far? I personally haven’t started anything yet with how busy I am. I’m still stuck finishing a couple of spring shows, even. Well, our manga library is still ongoing construction! It’s coming together well though. No opening date, or even an estimate, that I can share yet.

Pleaaaaase don’t come visit yet, okay?

And no, these aren’t all! We have more than 4,000 books in our library! We know we kept on teasing them, but we have so much that posting once a day is definitely not enough to show them all!

🧮 You might wonder… what?! The library (that is not yet open) has… what?!

Yes.
(Let me blame Summer Wars for this. And it’s summer… so…)

And no, these aren’t textbooks.

Given that the library comprises mostly of my personal collection of manga, manhwa, light novels, artbooks, Japanese lit, and magazines… might as well sneak in a tiiiiny shelf space dedicated for my longstanding love of reading non-fiction… math (and astrophysics) books. I won’t say I’m good at this field as there’s still so much I don’t know… hence the books. (There are a few books in the collection I haven’t read after all). But they’re there.

These books (usually) don’t require deep knowledge, and instead of solving them, will guide you through why things are, where the symbols came from, how it was used in the real world, and the conflicts that rose just to prove something. Sometimes they throw tricks here and there such as squaring any two-digit number that ends in 5 (like 35) is 1225 because you multiply the first digit with its +1 (so 3 times 3+1=4, 3x4 is 12) and add 25 at the end, so 1225. (Try 85, if you get 7225).

If these are something you’re interested in, or even if you have disgust towards math and physics but you’re eager to give it a second chance, the books are in the library for you to dive in. These are surprisingly easy to read! If you also see me manning the library, I’ll be very happy to yap you about these books too, as well as give and take recommendations, apart from the usual manga that we have.

⚽️ Before the new anime releases, catch up on the past seasons thru the books!

Once we open, you can extend your legs comfortably, sitting back on our much-beloved “tatami chairs” in our semi-private reading cubicles (we heard you) and read from over 4,000+ official English manga, manhwa, and light novels our library has, including these Blue Lock and Episode Nagi volumes 📚

New week, new spotlight on the types of books you’ll see in our library! 🙌

We’re pretty excited to let you know that our library has a collection of some new and old issues from Japanese anime (and lifestyle) magazines you can browse and read such as Animage, Animedia, PASH!, Spoon.2Di, CUT, an an, and Megami Magazine.

These magazines typically have furoku (collectible free stuff such as stickers, trading cards, pin-ups, posters, coasters, book sleeves, etc.) inside them. Some we’ve already taken out, while some are still intact. They’re very attractive for fans to collect, but for us to be able to continuously add more issues to our catalog, we expect readers to respect these books and our space and do not tear them apart, vandalize, or take them home.

My positive opinion for the library is it is a good place to visit if you wish to “try” and “look” at books before you decide to purchase them yourselves, as we personally ended up becoming a manga collector after being exposed to the library and being able to afford them eventually. It made us feel like “We want one for ourselves” and we want you to also have that feeling after browsing books for a while with us. We would be glad if we see each other in the bookstores later on. 🤝

If you wish to purchase books on your own, you can order them through the bookstore links we have on our website. (With other non-manga-books-but-are-in-our-library making way there in the future).

We’ve noticed some issues from the past with furoku that were ripped and stolen, and we had CCTVs cross-checked for them. We’re pretty heartbroken having to resort to that and finding out we have people who cannot respect property that we’re lending. Being able to use the library doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want and treat our books and decor for granted. Please, please, please be mindful that we’re mainly doing the whole library thing out of love and passion, and we don’t want to stop this because of a certain, avoidable incident. So let’s not make things harder for everybody else, okay?

Browse the shelves, read a book, return it once you’re done. Pretty easy, right? ;)
