Magpet Tourism convened its 2nd Quarter Meeting with the members of the Majestic Magpet Tourism Operators Association (MaMaTOA) to discuss key agendas, programs, and activities concerning the municipality’s tourism sector and stakeholders.

The meeting primarily focused on the upcoming Capacity Development Training for tourism stakeholders scheduled this July 2026. Discussions also covered updates on the association’s SEC registration, the 1st Quarter Tourist Arrival Report for same-day visitors, reiteration of the processes and guidelines for conducting activities within tourism establishments in the municipality, and updates on ongoing tourism-related projects and initiatives. In addition, planned capability enhancement trainings for the transport sector were also presented and discussed.

This quarterly meeting plays a vital role in strengthening the Local Government Unit’s mechanisms and collaborative efforts toward achieving its goals for the local tourism industry. Through continuous coordination and active engagement among stakeholders, the municipality remains committed to promoting sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven tourism development. A strong public–private partnership continues to be essential in advancing tourism programs and ensuring long-term growth for the sector.

On behalf of LGU Magpet, we sincerely acknowledge and appreciate the valuable contributions of our tourism partners for their time, commitment, active participation, and insightful inputs during the meeting. On the second day of the training, the twenty-five (25) participants from various sectors and organizations of LGU Magpet — including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Solo Parents, OFWs, KALIPI, 4H, and RIC — proudly presented their individual outputs of scrunch abaca bags.

Several important topics were emphasized by our trainer, Ma’am Nilda Masibay, including the importance of proper bag measurements, techniques in dyeing abaca fibers, creating attractive bag designs, and the proper way of making durable bag handles. These valuable lessons further enhanced the participants’ creativity, craftsmanship, and understanding of the abaca bag-making process.

Moreover, Ma’am Nilda conducted a one-on-one feedback session for each participant to help improve the quality and presentation of their scrunch bag outputs. This personalized mentoring allowed participants to learn more effectively and refine their skills even further.

To recognize the participants’ outstanding efforts and creativity, the Tourism Section also prepared simple tokens for the Top Four (4) participants who excelled in creating their scrunch abaca bags, as well as awards for the Two (2) Early Bird participants. Congratulations to all the awardees! 🎉🎊

We would also like to commend everyone for their tireless effort, active participation, and enthusiasm throughout the entire training. Your willingness to learn and showcase your talents truly contributed to the success of this activity.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 439, National Heritage Month (NHM) is celebrated annually every month of May. This celebration recognizes the importance of fostering among Filipinos a deeper sense of consciousness, respect, and appreciation for the rich legacies of our cultural history and heritage.🫶 🇵🇭

The Local Government Unit of Magpet, through the Tourism Office, proudly joins this year's National Heritage Month celebration with the theme: “Preserving Legacies, Building Futures: Empowering Communities through Heritage.” The theme highlights the importance of heritage as a bridge between the past and the future, inspiring communities to create innovative and sustainable strategies for cultural preservation. 🌷🫰

As part of the celebration, twenty-five (25) participants from various sectors and organizations of LGU Magpet — including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Solo Parents, OFWs, KALIPI, 4H, and RIC — participated in the Abaca Scrunch and Bag-Making Workshop conducted by Ma’am Nilda Masibay. The training aimed to equip participants with additional skills that may serve as a potential source of livelihood for their respective organizations and communities.

Moreover, the activity served as a meaningful avenue to strengthen appreciation for Magpet’s local products, particularly abaca, which holds great cultural and economic significance among both IP and non-IP communities. Through initiatives like this, the municipality continues to promote and preserve its local heritage while empowering its people through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The LGU Magpet in partnership with Provincial Tourism Office also awarded Two(2) boxes of bead materials to Two(2) successful and hardworking participants of last year's National Heritage Month -Beads Making workshop in the persons of Ms. Analou Sicao and Ms. Dioscoro Bellosillo. Congratulations! 🎉🎊

On behalf of the Municipal Mayor Jay Laurence Gonzaga, the training was graced by Hon. Warren Mamon, Committee Chair for Culture and the Arts, and Hon. Jun Lobaton, Committee Chair on Tourism. Both councilors expressed their full support for programs that help preserve and promote Magpet’s rich local products and cultural identity. They also shared their hope that the knowledge and skills gained from the training will greatly benefit the participants in the future, while further promoting Magpet not only for its nature-based attractions but also for its handicrafts and locally made products. 💚

The PNP Provincial Office, headed by PLTCOL Dominador Palgan Jr., Deputy Provincial Director for Operations, together with Police Major (PMAJ) Abdulsalam M. Mamalinta Jr., Chief of Police of Magpet, and members of the Cotabato Province Tourist Pulis, paid a visit to the Magpet Tourism Office and several tourism sites in the municipality.
This initiative aims to strengthen the full activation and implementation of the Tourist Pulis program across the Province of Cotabato. Magpet became one of the team’s first destinations, as the municipality is recognized as one of the province’s major tourism hubs and emerging tourist destinations.

It is also noteworthy that the Magpet PNP and the Magpet Tourism Office have long been strong partners in ensuring tourist safety, maintaining peace and order, and providing assistance to visitors. Through this collaboration, both offices continue to work hand in hand in promoting a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for all tourists visiting Magpet.

The visit further highlights the importance of building stronger partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the tourism sector, helping boost tourist confidence and strengthen the municipality’s tourism industry. During the visit, the team also conducted site inspections and interviews with resort owners and visitors in three identified tourism destinations: Sitio Maupot Family Resort, Tousuvan Ecopark, and Rych Highland Resort — home of the beautiful Kapati Waterfalls.
It is hoped that this initiative will further intensify cooperation among stakeholders and enhance the visibility of tourism areas, not only in terms of security and safety, but more importantly in providing quality tourist assistance and hospitality services.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the PNP Provincial Office and the Magpet PNP for taking this meaningful step toward promoting community welfare and tourist safety. In observance of Semana Santa, a comprehensive tourist monitoring and assistance initiative was successfully implemented by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Magpet. This effort was made possible through the strong collaboration of various offices and partners, including the Magpet Tourism Office, MDRRMO, Treasurer’s Office, Magpet Police (PNP), Barangay Council of Bongolanon, and Barangay Council of Magcaalam.

The initiative aimed to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all tourists visiting the municipality’s key attractions. Personnel were strategically deployed in major tourist destinations such as Tousuvan Ecopark and Pidlanan Falls to provide assistance, monitor activities, and respond promptly to any emergencies. In addition, selected MDRRMO responders and Magpet Police personnel were also assigned to other areas across Magpet to carry out similar monitoring and safety measures.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all participating offices and partner agencies for their dedication, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to public service. Their collective efforts greatly contributed to maintaining peace, order, and safety throughout the Holy Week observance.

This successful collaboration highlights the importance of unity and shared responsibility in achieving a common goal — promoting Magpet as a safe, secure, and sustainable tourism destination.

Let us continue to work hand in hand, not only during the Holy Week season but throughout the entire year and in the years to come, in service of our community and its visitors.
