During times of heavy rain and typhoons, Muslims turn to Dua (supplication) for seeking Allah's (SWT) protection and blessings. Dua is seen as a weapon of the believer, a pillar of Islam, and a light of the heavens and the earth.

Specific Duas for Heavy Rain and Storms

Here are some specific duas that can be recited during heavy rain and storms:

• General Storm: اللَّهُمَّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقْتَ "Allahumma a’u thu bika min sharri ma khalaqta" (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You have created).

• Heavy Rain: اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا، وَلاَ عَلَيْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى الْآكَامِ وَالْجِبَالِ وَالْآجَامِ وَالظِّرَابِ وَالْأَوْدِيَةِ وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ "Allahumma hawalaina wala ‘alayna, Allahumma ‘ala al-akami wal-jibali wal-ajami waz-zira abi wal-aw diya wa man abiti ash-shajari" (O Allah, (send down rain) around us and not on us. O Allah, (send it) on the plateaus, the hills, in the valleys, and over the regions where trees grow).
• Storm with Wind: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيْهَا، خَيْرَ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا فِيْهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ "Allahumma inni as-alוקה khay raha, wa khayra ma fiha, wa khayra ma ur silat bihi, wa a’u thu bika min sharri ha, wa sharri ma fiha, wa sharri ma ur silat bihi" (O Allah, I ask You for its goodness, and the goodness of what is in it, and the goodness of what it has been sent with; and I seek refuge with You from its evil, and the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it has been sent with).

• To Stop Excessive Rain: اللَّهُمَّ أَقْلِعْ عَنَّا "Allahumma aqla’ anna" (O Allah, withhold (the rain)).

Additional Supplications

Another dua that is recommended during heavy rains and floods is:

• اللهمَّ أَ غثنا ، اللهمَّ أَ غثنا ، اللهمَّ أَ غثنا "Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna, Allahumma aghithna" (Oh Allah, bless us with rain, oh Allah, bless us with rain, oh Allah bless us with rain).
