The Municipal Orientation on Panahon ng Pagkilos: Philippine Community Project and the Organizational Meeting of the Municipal Resilience Team was successfully held at Buho Rock Resort, bringing together local leaders and stakeholders committed to strengthening community resilience and sustainable development.

The activity was attended by Hon. Mayor Edgar G. Rama, Hon. Vice Mayor Dina Z. Rama, Sangguniang Bayan Officials, Barangay Captains, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and other key partners. The gathering served as a platform to discuss collaborative strategies, roles, and initiatives aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness, community participation, and local governance.

Together, we move forward in building stronger, safer, and more resilient communities through unity, partnership, and collective action.

Rather, it means that the municipality has complied with government standards on law enforcement, anti-drug advocacy, prevention, intervention, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs. These efforts are led by the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) at the municipal level and the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) at the barangay level, in partnership with law enforcement agencies and the community. This is why the active participation of every barangay is vital, as the success of the municipality's anti-drug efforts depends on the commitment and performance of each barangay.

Unfortunately, the Municipality of Poro was unable to complete the Onsite Validation for the Sustainability of Drug-Cleared Status for all seventeen (17) barangays due to the non-participation of Barangay Eastern Poblacion. This is a matter of serious concern and disappointment, considering that Poro has proudly held the distinction of being the first Drug-Cleared Municipality in Region VII since 2022. While our fellow Camotes municipalities successfully completed the validation of all their barangays, Poro now awaits the results and whether we can sustain the recognition and streak that we have collectively worked hard to achieve. The preservation of a drug-cleared municipality requires the full commitment, cooperation, and accountability of every barangay, as the actions of one can affect the standing of the entire municipality.

Despite this setback, we extend our sincere appreciation and congratulations to the sixteen (16) barangays that fully cooperated and participated in the validation process, as well as to our MADAC members, partner agencies, and stakeholders who worked tirelessly to ensure compliance. Your dedication reflects the unwavering commitment of the people of Poro to maintain a safe, peaceful, and drug-free community. We remain grateful for your efforts and hopeful that the hard work of the participating barangays will be duly recognized in the final evaluation.

The Municipality of Poro commenced the month of June with a Flag Raising Ceremony held at the Poro Municipal Grounds, led by Mayor Edgar G. Rama, Vice Mayor Dina Z. Rama and SB officials.

Joining the ceremony were members of the Sangguniang Bayan, representatives from the BFP, PCG, MTC, department heads, and LGU employees, all united in reaffirming their commitment to public service and good governance.

As we begin a new month, may this gathering serve as a reminder of our shared responsibility to work together in building a stronger, more progressive, and service-oriented Municipality of Poro for every Porohanon.

The Poro Islanders proudly joined the opening ceremony of the Congressman Duke Frasco Cup 2026 โ€“ 25U Menโ€™s Basketball Tournament today at the DM Reynes Gymnasium in Compostela, Cebu.

The event was formally opened by Deputy Speaker Congressman Vincent Franco โ€œDukeโ€ Frasco and Board Member Mike Villamor, bringing together young athletes from across the district in a celebration of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and excellence.

Representing the Municipality of Poro, our delegation was accompanied by SK Federation President Thessa Aaliyah Celedonio and fellow SK officials, Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Emilianito E. Borlasa, Municipal Administrator Clifford Rey G. Gonzales-Borlasa, Head Coach John Alexon G. Loon and assistant coach Mark Jovan Sotto.
