Light the Legacy: A Night of Remembrance and Action in Cebu City 🕯️

Today, the Cebu City Health Department stood in solidarity with the global community for the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2026.

Under this year’s powerful theme, "Light the Legacy: Remember, Advance, Act," we gathered not only to honor the lives of those we have lost to AIDS-related illnesses but also to renew our unwavering commitment to those living with HIV (PLHIV).

Why We Gather

The Candlelight Memorial is one of the world’s oldest and largest grassroots mobilization campaigns for HIV awareness. Today’s event at the City Health Department served as a sanctuary for:

🕯️ Remembrance: Honoring our friends, family, and community members whose legacies continue to inspire our advocacy.
🤝 Solidarity: Breaking the silence and the stigma that often surrounds the diagnosis.
📢 Action: Strengthening our resolve to provide accessible testing, treatment, and compassionate care for every Cebuano.

Our Collective Promise

HIV is no longer a death sentence, but the stigma remains a barrier to life-saving care. Today’s ceremony reminded us that awareness must lead to action. By lighting these candles, we signify our dedication to a future where:

🏥 Treatment and Support are provided with dignity and confidentiality.
📚 Education replaces fear, ensuring no one is left behind.

Earlier today, the official candidates for Queen of Cebu City 2026 gathered at the 9th Floor of the Cebu City Hall Executive Building for the ceremonial contract signing.

This milestone marks the formal beginning of their journey toward the crown. By signing these agreements, our candidates have pledged their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to representing the LGBTQIA+ community of Cebu City with integrity and pride.

We are one step closer to June 27! The excitement is building as these queens prepare to embark on a journey of advocacy, leadership, and transformation.
