The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has issued Memorandum Circular No. 2026-006, reiterating the strict prohibition on the display and/or affixture of names, images, and likenesses of public officials on government funded projects.

Under Section 5.2, “All covered officials and employees are hereby directed to cause the immediate removal of existing signages, tarpaulins, markers, or materials that violate this Circular.”

MC 2026-006 underscores that government resources shall not be used for personal promotion or political advantage, upholding neutrality, accountability, and ethical governance. It further reminds concerned officials and offices to ensure compliance at all stages of project implementation, from planning to ex*****on and monitoring.

Through this issuance, the DILG reinforces the principle that public service is about service to the people not personal recognition, and that government projects belong to the public they are meant to serve.

Official announcements on class and work suspensions come ONLY from the DILG, the Office of the President, LGUs, DepEd, and other concerned agencies, and are released through their verified websites and social media pages.

Bago natin nakilala ang Punong Barangay, ang tawag noon sa lider ng barangay ay Barrio Captain.

Noong 1974, sa bisa ng Presidential Decree No. 431, pinalitan ang tawag at naging Barangay Captain bilang bahagi ng pagsasabansa ng mga opisyal na termino.

Pagdating naman ng 1983, kinilala na ito bilang Punong Barangay sa ilalim ng Batas Pambansa Blg. 337.

Sa pagsapit ng 1991, sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 7160 o ang Local Government Code of 1991, opisyal nang kinilala ang lider ng barangay bilang Punong Barangay.

Mula noon hanggang ngayon, ito na ang opisyal na tawag sa pinakamataas na lider ng barangay — ang katuwang ng pamahalaan sa pinakapayak na antas ng pamayanan.

Ayon sa Republic Act No. 8491 o ang Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, mula Mayo 28 hanggang Hunyo 12 ng bawat taon ay idineklara bilang Mga Araw ng Watawat. Lahat ng tanggapan, ahensya at sangay ng pamahalaan, mga gusali ng negosyo, mga institusyong pang-edukasyon, at mga pribadong tahanan ay hinihikayat na magwagayway ng watawat ng Pilipinas.

Kaugnay nito, ang Local Government Unit of Catubig ay buong puso at dangal na nakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Philippine Flag Days 2025. Inaanyayahan ang lahat ng Catubignon na makiisa sa pamamagitan ng paglalagay ng ating Pambansang Watawat sa kani-kanilang tahanan at gusali simula Mayo 28, ang Araw ng Watawat, hanggang Hunyo 12, ang Araw ng Kalayaan.

Sinisimbulo nito ang soberanya at kasaysayan ng Pilipinas, mga sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani, at ng ating pag-asa para sa mas magandang kinabukasan.

Muli, hinihimok ang bawat Catubignon: Itaas natin ang ating watawat—itaas natin ang dangal ng Catubig at ng sambayanang Pilipino!

The Local Governance Transition Team (LGTT) of Catubig, Northern Samar convened today, May 27, 2025, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall to discuss the implementation of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2025-016, titled “Establishment and Operations of Local Governance Transition Teams.”

The team is responsible for ensuring and facilitating a seamless transition to newly-elected or re-elected officials by safeguarding LGU records and assets, managing key processes, and maintaining continuity in governance.
