โ The Department of Labor and Employment โ Samar Field Office successfully celebrated the 124th Labor Day on May 1, 2026, at the Samar Convention Center, bringing together government officials, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and job seekers in a meaningful gathering that highlights employment, livelihood, and workersโ welfare.
The activity formally opened with welcome remarks from Engr. Aleksei Ceasar D. Abellar, Chief Labor and Employment Officer and Head of DOLE Samar, setting the tone for a meaningful and impactful celebration.
Delivering the message of support on behalf of Governor Sharee Ann Tan, Board Member Beethoven Bermejo emphasized the provinceโs strong commitment to advancing employment opportunities and sustaining livelihood programs that uplift every Samareรฑo.
Meanwhile, representing Samar State University, Engr. Ma. Lourdes Amante, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, delivered her message on behalf of University President Redentor Palencia, Ed. D. She highlighted Labor Day as a celebration of workersโ vital role in nation-building, emphasizing the importance of education in empowering them.
A major highlight of the event was the conduct of a Job Fair, offering a wide range of employment opportunities covering both local industries and overseas placements, providing job seekers greater access to potential employers and career pathways.
Also featured during the celebration was the awarding of checks under the Livelihood and TUPAD programs, extending financial assistance and short-term employment support to beneficiaries as part of the governmentโs continued efforts to uplift communities.
The program concluded with closing remarks from John Michael G. Cristobal, PESO Manager of the Public Employment Services Office โ Samar Province, emphasizing the collaboration among agencies to sustain employment opportunities and inclusive public services for all.
