The 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐎) Castillejos conducted the 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝐌𝐑𝐅𝐬) 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, as part of its continuous effort to strengthen local solid waste management systems.

The observations indicate that 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐑𝐅𝐬, reflecting proactive initiatives to improve facility standards and compliance with Republic Act No. 9003.

Notable progress was observed in terms of 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐮𝐩𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, demonstrating the commitment of barangays toward a more efficient and sustainable solid waste management system.

The 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐎) Castillejos conducted the 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐑𝐅 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 as part of its strengthened monitoring system for all Barangay Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs).

Results indicate 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐬, with 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 (𝟒) 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭 and 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 (𝟕) 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭, reflecting ongoing improvements in key areas such as recycling and community garden management.

The evaluation highlights the importance of continuous enhancement in composting systems, logbook compliance, and MRF infrastructure, while reinforcing a 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 in line with Republic Act No. 9003.

Today, March 21, 2026, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Castillejos, Zambales joins the global community in celebrating the International Day of Forests (IDF)!

Forests are more than just trees—they are the lifeblood of our communities, our economy, and our future. They provide livelihoods, clean air and water, food, and shelter for millions of people around the world, including right here in our municipality.

This year's theme, "𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒔", highlights the vital role that sustainable forest management plays in driving economic growth, supporting local livelihoods, and building resilient communities.

As stewards of Castillejos' natural resources, MENRO remains committed to protecting, managing, and rehabilitating our forests—for the benefit of our present and future generations.
