Meeting with the City Government of Calbayog to discuss and raise concerns regarding the planned wind turbine project in the Tarangban Falls area.

A geological tagging activity is scheduled today and tomorrow to properly identify and distinguish the exact locations of the proposed WTG sites.

One of the concerns raised by the community is the proposed access road that would be used for the transport and placement of the wind turbine components. There are concerns that the construction and development of the access road may affect the surrounding area and potentially contribute to sedimentation and turbid, “chocolatey” water reaching Tarangban Falls.

The Provincial Government is closely coordinating with the City Government on these concerns and is expected to issue an Executive Order regarding the composition of a Technical Working Group (TWG). The TWG is intended to conduct a separate study that will look into the potential environmental and economic considerations of the proposed project.

All concerns and findings will still be subject to the appropriate public hearings, consultations, and review and approval processes of the City Council.

Hoping for a transparent, constructive, and informed process, with due consideration given to both environmental protection and the economic interests of the community.

As someone who never really had a sport, I never imagined that I would come to love one this much. 🏓❤️

Just a month ago, my husband and I decided to try pickleball together. It started as something new for us to do, a sport we could learn side by side. But somehow, along the way, it became so much more than just a sport.

It became our little escape from the busyness of life. Something we could laugh (& fight) about (a little🤣), struggle through, get frustrated over, and celebrate together.

Then ta-da! We found ourselves joining our FIRST EVER pickleball tournament.

Four wins. Two losses. Made it to the Quarterfinals.

And those two losses were against the eventual silver and gold medal holders. 🥹

We didn’t make it to the podium, but honestly, it still feels like a win.

We definitely couldn’t have done it without the amazing Calbayog pickleball community.

Thank you to everyone who patiently taught us, encouraged us, played with us, gave us tips, corrected our mistakes, and made us feel welcome even as complete newbies. Your kindness and patience made this journey even more special.

Sometimes, the best things in life are the things you never planned for.
Definitely one for the books. 🏓❤️

What a beautiful, unexpected journey this has been.
Here’s to more games & more growth. 🙏

Just a reminder, sometimes, the things we’re most afraid to try end up becoming the things we love the most. ✨

A meaningful regular session for us yesterday as we took an important step toward strengthening culture and the arts in Samar. 🏛️🎭

We were able to sponsor and support the passage of the measure for the establishment of a Cultural Hub in Samar—a space envisioned not only to celebrate and preserve our province’s rich heritage, traditions, stories, and artistic expressions, but also to serve as a cultural center for the entire Eastern Visayas Region.

This is more than just creating a physical space. It is about creating a home for our artists, cultural workers, heritage advocates, young creatives, and communities; a venue where our history can be remembered, our traditions can be passed on, and our local talents can be given the platform they deserve.

As someone who believes deeply in the power of culture and tourism to shape our identity and create opportunities, I am grateful to be part of this initiative. We look forward to building a space that will bring our communities together and showcase the unique stories and culture of Samar and Eastern Visayas to the rest of the country and, eventually, to the world. 🌿

A step toward making Samar not only a destination for its natural beauty, but also a home for culture, heritage, creativity, and the arts.

Yesterday’s meeting brought together concerned stakeholders to discuss key issues surrounding the proposed project of Vena Energy—from environmental protection and marine resources to infrastructure, traffic, community impact, and the need for stronger monitoring and coordination.

I was honored to represent Governor Sharee Ann Tan and convey the Province’s commitment to ensuring that development moves forward responsibly, with the voices and welfare of our communities at the center. 🌿🤝

This is not something we should solely blame on the government.

Yes, our government has a responsibility to provide proper waste management systems, drainage, collection, enforcement, and long-term solutions. We should demand these things from our leaders. But we also have to acknowledge our own responsibility.

The amount of garbage seen in these photos did not come from the government alone. It came from the everyday choices of people—what we consume, what we throw away, where we throw it, and how seriously we take our responsibility to the environment.

This has to be a collective effort.

We cannot keep treating our rivers, seas, streets, and communities as if they are someone else’s responsibility. We cannot keep producing waste faster than we are willing to manage it, and then only look for someone to blame when the consequences come.

Because ultimately, this is bigger than today’s flooding.

We have children who will inherit the world we are shaping right now. What kind of Philippines do we want them to live in? A country where floods carry mountains of garbage into our communities, or one where we have learned to respect our environment and take responsibility for the spaces we all share?

Government must do its part. But so must we.

Change begins with better systems, stronger enforcement, responsible leadership—and equally, with responsible citizens. 🙏
