START OF THE SOUTHWEST MONSOON

Ahead of the possible onset of the rainy season, the DOST-PAGASA officially announces the start of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat over the Philippines, which is one of the precursors of the onset of the rainy season.

As Habagat becomes the dominant weather system, occasional to frequent rains and thunderstorms are expected, particularly over the western sections of the country. These conditions may signal the possible onset of the rainy season in the coming days.

However, there may be rain breaks that last a few days or weeks, known as monsoon breaks.

🌞🐄🐖 PAGHAHANDA LABAN SA EPEKTO NG EL NIÑO SA MGA ALAGANG HAYOP 🐐🐓💧

Dahil sa matinding init at kakulangan sa tubig na dulot ng El Niño, mahalagang maging handa upang mapanatiling ligtas at malusog ang ating mga alagang hayop. Sa tamang pagpaplano, sapat na tubig at pagkain, maayos na kulungan, at regular na pangangalaga sa kalusugan ng mga hayop, mas maiiwasan ang masamang epekto ng tagtuyot. 🌾☀️

✅ Mag-imbak ng sapat na tubig at pakain
✅ Siguraduhing may lilim at maayos na bentilasyon ang kulungan
✅ Panatilihing malinis at ligtas ang kapaligiran ng mga alaga

To help everyone understand what these numbers mean, here is a quick guide to our AQI categories and the recommended actions for each:

🟢 𝟎–𝟓𝟎 (𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃): Air quality is satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk. Enjoy your outdoor activities!
🟡 𝟓𝟏–𝟏𝟎𝟎 (𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄): Air quality is acceptable. However, there may be a risk for some people, particularly those who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.
🟠 𝟏𝟎𝟏–𝟏𝟓𝟎 (𝐔𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐏𝐒): Members of sensitive groups (children, elderly, pregnant individuals, and those with respiratory issues) may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected.
🔴 𝟏𝟓𝟏–𝟐𝟎𝟎 (𝐔𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘): Everyone may begin to experience health effects; members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects. Consider reducing prolonged outdoor exertion.
🟣 𝟐𝟎𝟏–𝟑𝟎𝟎 (𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐔𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘): Health alert: everyone may experience more serious health effects. Avoid prolonged outdoor activities.
🟤 𝟑𝟎𝟏+ (𝐇𝐀𝐙𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐎𝐔𝐒): Health warning of emergency conditions. The entire population is more likely to be affected. Stay indoors as much as possible.
