Regional Director Alexes Joseph “Aljo” R. Bendijo, J.D., of the LTFRB Regional Franchising and Regulatory Office (RFRO) No. 10 served as guest speaker and resource person for the first batch of Criminology students of Cagayan de Oro College in an academic engagement aimed at strengthening awareness on transportation laws, public service, and regulatory enforcement.
The lecture series was organized into three (3) batches involving approximately 1,300 Criminology students. RD Aljo Bendijo handled the first batch lecture, while the second and third batches will be facilitated, respectively, by Atty. Pimping and Atty. Ahmad as resource speakers.
For the first batch, more than 400 students from the COC Main Campus and Bugo Campus attended in person, while more than 100 students from the COC-Iligan City Campus joined virtually through an online platform.
During his presentation, RD Aljo Bendijo discussed the legal basis for the creation of the LTFRB, its organizational structure, mandate, functions, programs, and frontline services, including the agency’s role in public utility vehicle regulation, franchising, passenger welfare, transport modernization, and enforcement operations.
The discussion likewise highlighted the enforcement functions of the LTFRB, inter-agency coordination with law enforcement authorities, and the importance of regulatory compliance in ensuring safe, orderly, and efficient public transportation operations. Students were also given insights into actual field enforcement activities and the evolving challenges confronting the public transport sector.
An open forum followed the lecture where students actively interacted with RD Aljo Bendijo through questions and discussions on transport law enforcement, public transportation issues, franchise regulation, road safety concerns, and the practical realities encountered in transport regulatory operations. The exchange provided the students with a deeper appreciation of the role of the LTFRB and the importance of ethical and responsive public service in the field of criminology and law enforcement.
The activity forms part of LTFRB R10’s continuing commitment to strengthen public awareness, promote civic education, and encourage future professionals to appreciate the role of government institutions in maintaining public order, safety, and effective public service delivery in support of the governance agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Under the leadership of Regional Director Alexes Joseph “Aljo” R. Bendijo, J.D., and in line with the directives of the Department of Transportation headed by Acting Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Z. Lopez and LTFRB Chairman Vigor D. Mendoza II, LTFRB R10 continues to strengthen partnerships with educational institutions and stakeholders in promoting informed, responsive, and service-oriented governance.
