In line with the continuing efforts of NIA on the rehabilitation and protection of water resources supporting irrigation systems, the Planning Design Section of Regional Office facilitated a two (2)-day Monitoring Evaluation and Training Capacitation of the Implementing Personnel for the Implementation of the Irrigation Water Resources Management Plan (IWRMP) for Batch 01 priority irrigation systems in Region II which includes the Baggao Irrigation System (BIS) in Cagayan and the San Pablo-Cabagan Irrigation System (SPCIS) of Isabela.

The monitoring evaluation and training capacitation aims to assess and evaluate the overall accomplishments of each IMO, and to strengthen and capacitate the newly hired NIA focal persons in each IMO, and provide them with straightforward plans, programs, and activities for the implementation of the Five-Year Irrigation Water Resources Management Plan (IWRMP).

The monitoring evaluation was held on June 13, 2023, and was conducted at NIA Regional Office, Camasi, Peñablanca, Cagayan. The overview of IWRMP, the Year 1 Accomplishments, Year 1 Catch Up Plan, and the Year 2 Program of Work was discussed and presented.
Meanwhile, the training capacitation of watershed personnels was conducted on June 16, 2023 at Caranguian Integrated Farm School, Iguig, Cagayan which is owned by Mr. Lorenzo M. Caranguian. He discussed and shared about the Cagayan Valley Bamboo Development Program which aims to establish bamboo plantations along the banks of the Cagayan River and its tributaries. He also discussed the bamboo propagation methods. He also revealed their best procedures for propagating and cultivating bamboos and fruit-bearing trees in their farm.

Working together to make a positive impact on the environment and to the community.
The team proceeded to San Miguel, Baggao, Cagayan to set up the tarpaulin for the R&PWRSIS at the first tree planting site. Afterward, they proceeded to the next tree-planting site to plant grafted rambutan seedlings. The seedlings were transported by manually carrying and using an improvised raft made of PVC.

A letter of agreement is an important document that outlines the terms and conditions of an arrangement between two or more parties.
On January 13, 2023, NIA Watershed Personnels read and explained the content of the Letter of Agreement to the landowners/tillers that are part of the watershed area of management at San Miguel, Baggao, Cagayan. On the same day, the landowners/tillers signed the LOA with the presence of the NIA Watershed Personnels and Brgy. Captain. Felimon Laguen Sr.
