The recently concluded Technical Workshop on EXECAD, held on May 19โ21, 2026, at the National Irrigation Administration Isabela IMO Conference Hall, served as a productive and meaningful learning experience for all participants. The three-day activity gathered design personnel from NIA Region II (Isabela IMO, Regional Office II, Cagayan-Batanes IMO, Nueva Vizcaya IMO, and Quirino IMO) with the shared objective of enhancing their competencies in automated design and drafting through the use of EXECAD, an application developed by Mille Alfred L. Agaloos, Engineer A of the NIA Isabela IMO Planning and Design Unit.
Throughout the workshop, participants were introduced to the various features, tools, and functionalities of EXECAD. The sessions consisted of technical lectures, system demonstrations, and hands-on exercises that enabled participants to familiarize themselves with the application and apply their learning in actual drafting activities involving selected irrigation and drainage structures.
In addition to the technical discussions, the activity fostered collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and active engagement among participants. Through the guidance and support of Engr. Agaloos, who served as resource speaker, attendees gained not only enhanced technical knowledge but also increased confidence in utilizing modern engineering tools designed to improve the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of engineering design processes.
The initiative also received strong commendation and full support from NIA regional management. Engr. Edison L. Tolentino, Division Manager of NIA Isabela IMO, expressed his appreciation for the innovation and initiative demonstrated in the development of EXECAD, recognizing it as a significant step toward the modernization and digital transformation of engineering and design operations within the agency. He further emphasized the applicationโs potential to streamline drafting procedures, improve productivity, and strengthen the delivery of engineering services across NIA offices.
The workshop concluded on a positive note with the presentation of participantsโ outputs, followed by the sharing of insights, impressions, and recommendations for the future enhancement and development of EXECAD. Overall, the activity highlighted NIAโs continuing commitment to innovation, capacity-building, and the continuous improvement of engineering services.
