COMMISSION ON APPOINTMENTS - August 13, 2026

The Commission on Appointments - Committee on National Defense chaired by Congressman Joboy Aquino confirmed today the ad interim appointments of the 38 generals and flag officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Including in the confirmation is General Antonio G. Nafarette, the 61st Chief of Staff of the AFP.

During his sponsorship remarks before the plenary, Congressman Joboy Aquino gave special commendation to General Nafarette for his distinguished career and his core leadership philosophy that “every soldier matters,” which gives assurance that the future of the Armed Forces is in capable hands.

Prior to their confirmation, the appointees paid a courtesy visit to House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III.

The application for the CHED Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) Scholarship for students enrolled in the 1st Semester, Academic Year 2026–2027 is now OPEN!

Through the efforts of Congressman Joboy Aquino, the necessary funds have been appropriated to provide a one-time grant of ₱7,500.00 to qualified TDP beneficiaries to help cover their educational expenses for the semester. The program will be implemented by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and all applications will be evaluated directly by CHED.

Mahigit 2,000 Butuanon ang nakiisa sa ikalawang leg ng LegisHear sa Butuan City—isang makapangyarihang patunay na nais ng ating mga kababayan na marinig, makilahok, at maging bahagi ng paghubog ng mga batas na tunay na tumutugon sa kanilang buhay at pangangailangan.

Kabilang sa mga nakibahagi sa makabuluhang pagtitipon si Butuan City Rep. Jose “Joboy” Aquino, na kaagapay ng liderato ng Kongreso sa pagsusulong ng isang Bagong Kongreso—isang Kongresong mas bukas, mas nakikinig, at mas malapit sa taumbayan.

Sa inisyatiba ni Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, inilalapit ng LegisHear ang House of Representatives sa mga komunidad upang hindi lamang marinig ang boses ng mamamayan, kundi tunay na mapakinggan at maisalin ang kanilang mga kuwento, karanasan, at mungkahi sa mga batas na may konkretong pakinabang sa bawat Pilipino.

𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗡𝗦

Through the efforts of Cong. Jose “Joboy” S. Aquino II, the 2nd Leg of LegisHear: Bawat Batas Mahalaga was brought to Butuan City, giving Butuanons a direct avenue to be heard, raise their concerns, and take part in shaping policies.

The activities included a TownHall Meeting on the legislative process and the role of local concerns in national policymaking through LEDAC, followed by a Press Conference with House Secretary-General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil and Cong. Joboy Aquino highlighting the importance of bringing Congress closer to the people.

LegisHear also brought together 22 government agencies for Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), where stakeholders and constituents discussed sectoral concerns, identified needs, and explored possible solutions.
