Hello, Burawanons!🌱🌏

In celebration of 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the Local Government Unit of Burauen through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office invites all Burawanons to take part in the 𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒈 𝑹𝒖𝒏 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆 on June 5, 2026, at the Burauen Municipal Grounds.

Join us in promoting environmental stewardship while staying active and healthy! Participants will run along the designated route starting from the Tunnel Road to Barangay Arado, Burauen, Leyte, collecting plastic waste along the way and helping keep our community clean and green.

📌 TEAM COMPOSITION
✅ Limited to 10 teams only
✅ Each team must consist of 4 members
✅ Designate one Team Captain for coordination
✅ Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis
✅ Registration period: May 28 – June 4, 2026

📌 RACE MECHANICS
♻️ Teams must start and finish together.
♻️ Plastic waste only (PET bottles, sachets, plastic bags, wrappers, etc.) may be collected.
♻️ Waste collection is allowed only along the designated route.
♻️ Participants must bring their own trash bags or sacks.
♻️ All collected waste will be weighed at the finish line.

🏆 WINNING TEAM
The champion will be determined based on:
🥇 Being the first team to complete the route with all members present; and
🥇 Having the highest total weight of collected plastic waste collected during the race.

⚠️ REMINDERS
• Wear comfortable athletic attire and appropriate footwear.
• Bring reusable water containers to reduce single-use plastic waste.
• Observe proper safety precautions throughout the activity.
• Teams violating the rules and mechanics may be disqualified.

𝟐𝐍𝐃 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍-𝐔𝐏 𝐃𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄🌱💧

The Local Government Unit of Burauen, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), successfully conducted the 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝗨𝗽 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 under the 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁-𝗮-𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 along the stretch of the Daguitan River from Poblacion District 3 to Poblacion District 6.

This meaningful activity was made possible through the active participation and cooperation of RPWUDS, probationers, and parolees who rendered community service as part of their rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Burauen Police Station, Burauen Fire Station, Burauen District Jail, Barangay Councils of Poblacion Districts 3, 4, 5, and 6, and the 𝙈𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙤 𝙑𝙤𝙡𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙤 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠-𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝘼𝙧𝙚𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚 for their unwavering support and for sharing valuable knowledge and information in celebration of the International Day of Biological Diversity.

Together, we have taken another important step toward protecting and preserving our environment and waterways for future generations. 🌎♻️

As a gesture of appreciation, the office also distributed 3 kilograms of rice to all participants after the activity.

Hello, Burawanons! 🌿

Today marks a momentous and historic milestone as the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) Building was successfully held in Barangay Mahagnao, Burauen, Leyte.

The Local Government Unit of Burauen, led by Hon. Fe S. Renomeron, extends its warmest congratulations to the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park PAMO for this significant achievement in strengthening environmental protection and biodiversity conservation in the municipality.

The meaningful event was graced by officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), headed by Regional Executive Director Arturo N. Salazar, PENRO Ildefonso Quilloy, and CENRO Edgardo Alegre. Representing the LGUs of Burauen and La Paz were Hon. Juanito E. Renomeron, SB Committee Chair on Finance and Appropriations, and Municipal Mayor Joel Cinco, respectively.

Also present were Hon. Bienvenido Suplente, Barangay Chairman of Mahagnao; members of the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB); representatives from the Philippine Eagle Foundation; partner agencies; and other environmental stakeholders.

In his message, Hon. Juanito E. Renomeron reaffirmed the unwavering support of the LGU of Burauen to the DENR, especially to the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park PAMO. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration among agencies, organizations, and communities in protecting and preserving Burauen’s rich natural resources and ecological heritage.

Hon. Renomeron likewise recognized the exemplary leadership of Protected Area Superintendent Wincel Nuñez and the hardworking PAMO personnel for their dedication and tireless efforts in safeguarding the protected area.

The construction of the PAMO Building symbolizes progress in environmental governance and the shared commitment toward sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, and ecotourism promotion for future generations.

Together, let us continue protecting and preserving the beauty and ecological importance of the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park. 🌿🦅

The Local Government Unit of Burauen through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office reminds all residential, commercial, and industrial establishments to strictly comply with Municipal Ordinance No. 19-17 or the “Burauen Plastic and Polystyrene Regulation Ordinance of 2019.”

In support of environmental protection and proper solid waste management, the use of plastic bags and polystyrene materials as secondary packaging on dry and wet goods is prohibited every 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆.

✅ Use eco-friendly and reusable bags
✅ Choose paper cups, biodegradable straws, and reusable utensils
✅ Avoid styrofoam for food packaging
✅ Practice proper waste segregation and disposal

🌿 The 2nd Quarter Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) Meeting was successfully held today, May 7, 2026, at the Camp Kawayan Resort New Function Hall, Brgy. Balorinay, Burauen, Leyte.

The quarterly meeting gathered key stakeholders, partner agencies, and PAMB members to discuss updates, plans, and collaborative efforts for the protection, conservation, and sustainable management of the protected area.

This quarter’s meeting was proudly hosted by the Local Government Unit of Burauen under the leadership of Hon. Fe S. Renomeron, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation.

Present during the activity were representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine National Police, Local Government Units of Burauen and La Paz, Philippine Eagle Foundation, and other partner institutions who continue to support the preservation of one of Eastern Visayas’ treasured protected areas.
