March 18, 2026 — The Local Government Unit of Bobon, led by Hon. Mayor Reny A. Celespara, successfully conducted the 2026 Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Mass Recognition, celebrating the achievements of more than 400 young learners.

The event was attended by the recognized children together with their proud parents and guardians, marking a significant milestone in their early educational journey.

In her message, Vice Mayor Ligaya Tagros-Uy warmly congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to continue dreaming big, emphasizing that their aspirations will guide them toward a brighter future.

Mayor Celespara, in his speech, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the municipality’s ECCD programs. He underscored the importance of continued support for initiatives and activities that promote the holistic development of children in the community.

Also present during the event were Sangguniang Bayan Members Luz Ayala, Jun Tapang, and Mylene Gepollo, along with barangay officials including Barangay Captains from Quezon and Salvacion, and a Barangay Kagawad from Magsaysay.

Overall, the activity was successfully carried out, highlighting the LGU’s dedication to nurturing the growth and development of young children in Bobon.

1/25/2026 | Blessing and Inauguration of the Newly Constructed Child Development Center in Purok Zenia, Brgy. Dancalan, Bobon, Northern Samar

The newly constructed Child Development Center (CDC) in Purok Zenia, Barangay Dancalan, Bobon, Northern Samar was formally blessed and inaugurated on January 25, 2026, marking another milestone in strengthening early childhood care and development services in the municipality.

The ceremony was attended by Municipal Mayor Reny A. Celespara, Municipal Vice Mayor Ligaya Tagros-Uy, Sangguniang Bayan members, barangay officials, parents, and community members. The new facility is expected to provide a safe and nurturing environment that supports holistic child development and reinforces the local government’s commitment to education and child welfare.

It is worth noting that last November 14, 2025, a newly constructed Child Development Center (CDC) was also turned over to Barangay Somoroy, Bobon, Northern Samar. Mayor Reny reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Program of the LGU by constructing and repairing CDCs and implementing relevant programs and activities.

In her inauguration speech, MSWDO Maruja T. Plateja–Esquillo emphasized: “Sa araw na ito, muli po nating pinatutunayan na kapag inuuna natin ang kapakanan ng mga bata, inuuna rin natin ang kinabukasan ng ating komunidad at ng ating bayan.”

12/17/2025 | No Senior Citizen Gets Left Behind in LGU Bobon.

Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Officer Mrs. Maruja Esquillo, together with MSWDO staff Ms. Ginalyn Relano, personally visited the Ladies of Charity Home for the Aged in Calbayog City to deliver the Social Pension stipend to a senior citizen who is a former resident of the Municipality of Bobon and is currently a resident at the said institution.

12/4/2025 | LGU Bobon, under the leadership of Mayor Reny A. Celespara, has distributed hygiene kits and instructional materials to 34 Child Development Workers (CDWs) across the municipality’s 18 barangays.

The hygiene kits included kiddie toothpaste, toothbrushes, and bath soap, while the instructional materials consisted of staplers, glue, cartolina, colored paper, bond paper, scissors, crayons, punchers, and pentel pens.

In addition, eight CDWs received their requested water dispensers, and the CDW assigned to the newly constructed Child Development Center in Brgy. Magsaysay, Sitio Balud, was provided with a new whiteboard.

A total of 1,500 Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) learners are expected to benefit from the distributed materials.

The distribution of these materials is part of Mayor Jing’s advocacy to further strengthen the municipality’s Early Childhood Care and Development Program.

11/27/2025 | LGU Bobon, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Reny A. Celespara, successfully conducted Child Congress in celebration of the 33rd National Children’s Month.

More than 100 children from various sectors participated in the event, including student leaders, 4Ps beneficiaries, children with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Their presence highlighted the inclusive spirit of the activity and the LGU’s commitment to ensuring that every child’s voice is heard.

Resource Speaker Mr. Darwin C. Castillo underscored the vital role of children in nation-building. He emphasized that children are the future of the country and encouraged them to actively participate in programs and initiatives that contribute to community and national development.

Hon. Mayor Reny A. Celespara, who graced the event, shared updates on the LGU’s ongoing and upcoming projects geared toward enhancing the welfare of children in Bobon. He assured the participants that the LGU will continue to prioritize programs that uplift and protect the youth and children. In line with this year’s National Children’s Month theme, “OSAEC–CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” Mayor Jing reminded the children to stay vigilant in the digital world, noting that many harmful and inappropriate materials can be found online.

PSSP Elsie Tolitol provided an informative discussion on OSAEC–CSAEM, highlighting key Philippine laws that safeguard children from online sexual exploitation and abuse. The session was made more engaging through a dynamic Q&A handled by Bobon DILG staff, Mr. Arvin Doncillo, ensuring that the children clearly understood the issues and how to protect themselves.

MSWD Officer Maruja T. Plateja-Esquillo expressed her gratitude to all the participants and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to uplifting the lives of Bobonanon children. She vowed to continue advocating for their rights and to initiate more programs and activities that emphasize their value and importance in society.

The Child Congress marks a significant step for LGU Bobon in strengthening child participation, protection, and empowerment—paving the way for a safer and brighter future for the children of the municipality.
