“Isnan ARAL, Adu Nan Maadal!”: TNHS launches ARAL Program
Tamboan National High School held a short but special ceremony to launch its ARAL Program, a government initiative aimed at strengthening academic recovery and learning support across public schools, at the Tamboan gymnasium on September 15, 2025.
The event started with an opening prayer led by Mrs. Michelle D. Tigui-ing setting a reflective and purposeful tone for the day.
After the prayer, the school head, Joan B. Angway gave an overview of the ARAL Program. Teachers, students, parents, IP representative and the barangay captain were present. The school head thanked them for their support and shared how important the ARAL Program is for helping students catch up and do better in school.
“ARAL stands for “Academic Recovery and Advancement Learning.” It aims to help students who need extra support in subjects like Math, English, and Science. The program also encourages students to study on their own and build good study habits,” stated Angway.
The school reading coordinator, Olivia M. Fantoyao then presented the school ARAL structure and activities. She emphasized that there should be a partnership among the teachers, parents/guardians and the community to help the learners perform at their expected grade level. Fantoyao enumerated the activities conducted in school such as assessment, remedial reading every after classes in the afternoon, spelling during lunch break, and spelling bee every Friday afternoon.
After the presentation, the PTA president, parents, IP representative and barangay officials gave messages of support. They said that education is very important and that the whole community should work together to make the program successful.
A commitment setting followed, where teachers, parents, IP representative, and the barangay captain recited the ARAL pledge led by Mrs. Hydee P. Degay to support the ARAL Program.
Finally, the launching ceremony took place. Students gathered in front with letterings and balloons in their hands. With big smiles and loud voices, they shouted, “Isnan ARAL, adu nan maadal!” which means “In ARAL, there is much to learn!” As they shouted, they released the balloons into the sky.
The ceremony ended with the closing remarks given by Pastora Paula Ngolab. She underscored the importance of putting God’s first in everything we do. She related her message from the books of Ecclesiastes, Ephesians and John.
The ARAL Program is now officially launched in Tamboan NHS, and everyone is ready to work together for a brighter future for the students.
