Hon. Richard D. Wacnisen, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of the Municipality of La Trinidad, was among the awardees during the first-ever Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives (IPMRs) Day of Benguet, held on August 21, 2026, at the Benguet Sports Complex.

He received the Outstanding Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Award in recognition of his exemplary leadership, dedicated service, and meaningful representation of the Indigenous Peoples of La Trinidad.

As he continues to serve, Hon. Wacnisen remains committed to upholding the rights, welfare, cultural heritage, and development of Indigenous Peoples, while ensuring that their voices, concerns, and aspirations are heard and represented in local governance.

This recognition reflects his continued dedication to meaningful representation and to advancing the welfare and interests of the Indigenous Peoples of La Trinidad.

๐Ÿšจ STATE OF CALAMITY DECLARED IN LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET

The Sangguniang Bayan of La Trinidad has declared a State of Calamity through Resolution No. 374-2026 due to the adverse impacts of the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay, the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), and African Swine Fever (ASF).

The declaration will facilitate immediate response, relief, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts for affected communities.

The Sanggunian considered the committee report concerning the realignment of โ‚ฑ1 million for the improvement of the road at Upper Riverside, Barangay Ambiong.

Among the measures taken up for first reading were proposed ordinances on:

๐Ÿ”ธ Regulation of fundraising and solicitation activities for medical assistance, disaster relief, charitable purposes, and community advocacy programs; and

๐Ÿ”ธ Uniform guidelines for the designation, qualifications, selection, and training of Barangay VAWC Desk Officers in the municipalityโ€™s 16 barangays.

The agenda also included the proposed acquisition of the 219-square-meter property in Shilan presently occupied by the Shontog Day Care Center, land reclassification applications in Poblacion and Ambiong, and a proposed resolution allocating โ‚ฑ330,036.00 for unfunded Personal Services requirements.

The Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), headed by Ms. Imelda Obidos, conducted an orientation-workshop on the Strategic Performance Management System (SPMS) and the preparation of the Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR) and Individual Performance Commitment and Review (IPCR) for newly appointed employees.

Before the program formally commenced, Municipal Councilor Atty. Bartolome Baldas Jr., Chairperson of the Committee on Personnel, delivered an inspiring message to the newly appointed employees of the Municipality of La Trinidad.

In his message, he emphasized that public service is both a privilege and a challenge. He reminded everyone that their work is not merely about fulfilling responsibilities but about serving the people with humanity, compassion, and love.

He also encouraged the employees to remain dedicated and committed to their work, step out of their comfort zones, and go beyond the limits of their job descriptions in delivering genuine and meaningful public service.
