In line with the PCG iCARE Program and in celebration of Womenโs Empowerment Month, on 240900H March 2026, the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Baybay served as a resource speaker on Natural Disaster Preparedness for the members of the Bunga Compact Farmers Association (BuCFA) and the Bunga Womenโs Association (BuWA). The activity was conducted upon the invitation of the Punong Barangay of Brgy. Bunga, Ms. Anamelle M. Bantaculo.
The activity specifically highlighted the critical role of women in disaster risk reduction and management, emphasizing what women can do and how they can contribute to disaster preparedness in their capacity as key members of the household and community. It underscored their role in ensuring preparedness before, during, and after natural hazards such as typhoons, flooding, and landslides. Practical guidance was provided on early warning awareness, emergency planning, evacuation procedures, and basic safety measures tailored to the needs of families and other vulnerable sectors.
In addition, discussions were conducted on the Safety, Security, and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System, as well as the guidelines entitled โPaalala sa mga Mangingisda sa Panahon ng Tag-ulan at Bagyo,โ to further strengthen community awareness on maritime safety during adverse weather conditions.
This initiative successfully delivered essential knowledge and practical preparedness strategies to the community while honoring and empowering women as key agents of resilience, leadership, and safety within their households and the broader community.
