It is located between the barangays of Gubang, Kagumay, Higulo-an, and Zacarito. Residential area is located in the central to northern part of the barangay along the highway. The southern part is mainly an agricultural/non-residential area and the site of previous landfill/dumpsite of Baybay. Kambonggan is located along the highway of Baybay to Tacloban City with 12 kilometers From the City of Baybay. It is bounded on the east in between Sitio San Miguel Ang Brgy. Higuloan. West by Gubang Creek to Unknown Creek, or North by kagpua river and on South by Tingin River. The name of our Brgy. was derived from the word " Bogan" a part of the body above thighs. Before it was founded, there was a hunter hunting for a deer which fell down in a muddy place after it was strucked by an arrow. The mud was reached in the "Bogan" made it difficult to get the deer. In the way home a man asked him where he got the deer, and the hunger said at the muddy place that reached in the "Bogan". According to the past generation, Our Barangay before was very muddy that reached to the "Bogan" , this is the history of Barangay Kambonggan which was originally named "Kambongan", Sitio of Brgy. Gubang Baybay City, Leyte. In 1960 it was officially changed to "Kambonggan" thru Brgy. Petition which approved by the municipal council of Baybay, Leyte.
