The MAFAR Municipal Office of Hadji Mohammad Ajul conducted the collection of soil samples in Barangay Languyan and Barangay Seronggon, Hadji Mohammad Ajul Municipality, Basilan Province.

This activity is part of MAFAR’s continuing effort to support our farmers through soil testing and proper fertilizer recommendation, ensuring that crops receive the right nutrients based on actual soil conditions. On January 27, 2026, The MAFAR–Basilan Fisheries Division successfully conducted the distribution of boat engines to the hardworking fisherfolks of Hadji Mohammad Ajul Municipality, Basilan Province.

This initiative aims to strengthen the livelihood of our local fisherfolks by improving their fishing capacity, mobility, and productivity—helping ensure sustainable fisheries and better income for coastal communities.

The activity was spearheaded by Provincial Director Hanie Muadz A. Junuban together with Chief Aquaculturist Abdurasul Sarail whose leadership and commitment continue to bring meaningful support and development to the fisheries sector of Basilan.

The MAFAR HMA Municipality together with the personnel of Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) upon the request of the local farmers assessed and identified pest and disease of some coconut trees (Cocos nucifera). The team also recommended a beneficial tips and good cultural management practices.

PCA Coconut Development Officer Mr. Moner Paredes briefly discussed the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) and its numerous benefits to the coconut farmers and their beneficiaries. Meanwhile, MAFAR assured the provision of fertilizers in support to the rehabilitation and rejuvenation of their various fruit-bearing trees such as durian, mango, rambutang, lanzones and banana.

The team also visited and validated another farm seeking assistance from both agencies. The farm owner requested hybrid dwarf coconut seedlings and high-valued fruit bearing trees i.e durian, nangka, coffee, etc. to establish across his 48 hectares of agricultural land.
