The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Abra, led by Vice Governor Anne A. Bersamin, continues to advance measures that safeguard Abreรฑos and strengthen local governance. Among the key resolutions are the adoption of Tuboโ€™s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan, strengthened tuberculosis prevention and control measures, the No-Helmet Policy, CCTV monitoring in schools, and the institutionalization of Barangay Tanods. Measures supporting the localized implementation of VAWC programs and the realignment of funds for Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) further reinforce social protection.

On development and infrastructure, the SP is moving forward with the โ‚ฑ70-million loan ratification for San Juanโ€™s two-story municipal evacuation building and public market, the โ‚ฑ15.7-million to***co excise tax allocation for Bolineyโ€™s priority programs, and funding support for the rehabilitation of Bucay Central School.

The Provincial Government of Abra joins the nation in celebrating the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) 2026 this September, under the theme โ€œKaragatan sa Karagatan, Sama-Sama Nating Alagaan.โ€

In support of the nationwide celebration, the Provincial Government participated in the Simultaneous Nationwide Flag-Raising Ceremony on September 7, where the message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for MANA Mo 2026 was also shared.

MANA Mo highlights the Philippinesโ€™ identity as a maritime and archipelagic nation and underscores the shared responsibility of government, communities, institutions, and the private sector in protecting our waters and upholding the countryโ€™s maritime rights and interests.

The Province of Abra encourages Abreรฑos to take part in activities throughout September, including Blue Day on September 24, and to deepen awareness of the vital role of our seas in the countryโ€™s history, security, livelihood, and future.

The Provincial Government of Abra, in partnership with the Civil Service Commission (CSC), formally opened the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) during the First Monday Flag-Raising Ceremony, led by CSC-Abra Director Atty. Ruby Verceles in the unveiling of the PCSA banner.

Joining the unveiling were Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin; Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Francis Cesar B. Bringas, Jane M. Cecilia, and Bruno O. Domingo; Municipal Mayor Perfecto B. Cardenas; and Vice Mayor Allan P. Seares.

Anchored on the theme โ€œBawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,โ€ the celebration honors government workers who serve with compassion, integrity, and excellence.

In her pep talk, Director Verceles emphasized Puso sa Paglilingkod, Dangal sa Tungkulin, at Galing sa Paglilingkod, urging public servants to uphold integrity and deliver responsive service. The ceremony also featured the signing of the Lingkod Bayani Commitment Wall.

Various activities are lined up throughout September, including the Government Workersโ€™ Discount, Trade Fair, Serbisyo Hatid sa Bayan, Luntiang Pookโ€“Adopt a Forest, and Pagpupugay sa mga Lingkod Bayani; celebrating the enduring spirit of Lingkod Bayani in Abra.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Abra reaffirmed its commitment to workersโ€™ welfare, employment, and harmonious labor relations during the September 7 flag-raising ceremony at the Provincial Capitol.

Representing Field Office Head Christopher Tugadi, Labor and Employment Officer III Herald Amor P. Bitaga highlighted DOLEโ€™s four pillars: creating gainful employment; protecting workersโ€™ rights and welfare; promoting industrial peace through dialogue and dispute resolution; and building a skilled, productive, and competitive workforce.

DOLE-Abra emphasized that achieving these goals requires strong collaboration among the Provincial Government, LGUs, government agencies, employers, workers, and other stakeholders toward decent work and inclusive workforce development.

Speaking during this morningโ€™s flag-raising ceremony at the Capitol grounds, Hon. Cecilia stressed that inclement weather should not hinder government services, but should instead strengthen efforts to assist vulnerable communities and ensure timely disaster response.

She likewise underscored the role of legislation in advancing safer infrastructure, stronger livelihoods, and better disaster preparedness.

The Provincial Engineerโ€™s Office (PEO), together with Pilar laborers and Barangay Bolbolo officials, conducted clearing operations to remove debris obstructing a multi-barrel box culvert in Barangay Bolbolo, Pilar, Abra.

The effort aims to improve water flow, reduce flooding risks, and help keep residents and nearby communities safe, especially during heavy rains.
