On April 7, 2026, the Saint Louis University administration released a memorandum introducing the HyFlex Learning Modalityโframed as a response to worsening transportation issues and the urgent need for academic leniency. Yet yesterday, the Louisian community made its voice clear through collective protest, exposing the root of these difficulties: the continuous rise in oil prices that burdens students daily.
While student leaders continue to hold dialogues and conduct sensing initiatives to identify the most responsive solutions for the student body, we recognize these efforts alongside the administrationโs attempt to provide alternatives. However, solutions that do not address the root causes remain insufficient. We will continue to hold all stakeholders accountable.
In this light, we, the Louisian community, put forward the following demands.
Now, more than ever, unity and collective action are essential. The challenges we face are not isolatedโthey are systemic, and they demand solutions that go beyond temporary alternatives. As Louisians, we assert our right to national, scientific, and mass-oriented education. We will continue to organize, remain vigilant, and to push for accountability until meaningful and lasting change is achieved.
