To strengthen grassroots governance and ensure more equitable community project tracking, the Municipal Agriculturist Office (MAO) of Itogon, in close coordination with the Itogon Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (IMAFC), spearheaded a crucial capacity-building initiative on June 19, 2026.
Titled "Training on Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation to IMAFC and BAFCs with the Inclusion of GESI," the seminar gathered barangay-level agricultural and fishery council leaders to equip them with localized project assessment skills.
Serving as the expert resource speaker was Susan D. Balanza, Ph.D., the RAFC Executive Officer and Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PMED) Chief. Dr. Balanza guided the participants through the methodologies of Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E), emphasizing how data-driven feedback from ground-level stakeholders improves the transparency and success of local farm projects.
A vital component of the training focused on integrating Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) lenses into their evaluation workflows. Participants learned how to systematically ensure that women, youth, indigenous groups, and marginalized sectors are actively considered and fairly represented in all municipal agricultural interventions.
Through this collaborative training, the Itogon MAO and IMAFC continue to foster a highly accountable, inclusive, and capable network of farming leaders ready to manage municipal development effectively.
