A total of 138 barangays in the province of Apayao received financial assistance under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program.
Apayao provincial officials led by Governor Elias Bulut Jr., Vice Gov. Kyle Mariah Chelsea Bulut-Cunan, with DILG-CAR Assistant Regional Director Ruperto Marribay Jr. and DILG Apayao Provincial Director Marleen Guerzon led the distribution of checks amounting to P200,000 pesos to each of the barangays of Apayao.
Also present were League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Apayao Chapter President and Calanasan Mayor Shamir Bulut, Flora Mayor Joefrey Blas, Santa Marcela Mayor Evelyn Martinez, Conner Vice Mayor Alex Aswigue, Liga ng mga Barangay President and Board Member Marcial Valiente, Philippine Councilors League - Apayao President and Board Member Mcleen Julian.
The BBMP assistance for the 133 regular barangays is funded through the Office of the President, while the provincial government of Apayao provided the same P200,000 allocation for the five administrative barangays.
The checks were received by the respective punong barangays and their treasurers with the other barangay officials.
The distribution was made during the ADAL Plus Program graduation and moving up ceremonies at the BGV Jr. Memorial Sports Complex in Luna, Apayao on Friday, August 7, 2026.
According to the DILG, the BBMP seeks to empower local government units (LGUs), reinforce effective barangay governance, and expand opportunities for young Filipinos to complete their education while enabling communities to respond to their immediate development priorities.
Board Member Valiente expressed gratitude to President Marcos and Gov. Bulut for the financial assistance provided to the barangays of Apayao.
He said that under the program, each barangay receives P200,000. Half of the amount, or P100,000, is allotted for scholarship grants for five college students, while the remaining P100,000 is earmarked for priority projects identified by barangay officials.
During the same activity, the provincial government of Apayao also awarded P1 million to the municipal government of Luna for the repair and maintenance of barangay patrol vehicles.
