โ‚ฑ11.7-M UNREGISTERED COOKING OIL CONFISCATED, 4 ARRESTED

Four individuals were arrested in an entrapment operation on March 26, 2026 in Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet for selling and distributing unregistered cooking oil.

Operatives caught the suspectsโ€”composed of an establishment owner and three employeesโ€”in the act of selling unlicensed and unregistered food products in violation of Republic Act 9711 or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.

Authorities seized large volumes of cooking oil, storage tanks, and packing equipment with a total estimated value of โ‚ฑ11.7 million, indicating a sizeable illegal operation. The products, which did not pass regulatory standards, pose potential health risks to consumers.

The operation was conducted by CIDG Baguio City Field Unit, with support from local police and regulatory agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration, and witnessed by barangay officials.

This forms part of the PNPโ€™s intensified campaign under its Focused Agenda on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, aligned with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to protect the public from unsafe and illegal goods.

Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., issued a firm warning:
โ€œHindi puwede ang ganitong gawain. You put peopleโ€™s health at risk for profit. We will not tolerate this. Tuloy-tuloy ang operasyon namin laban sa ganitong klase ng ilegal na negosyo.โ€

He also reminded the public to report any form of hoarding, repacking, or sale of uncertified products.

โ€œSa publiko, maging mapanuri tayo lalo na ngayong may kinakaharap tayong krisis. I-report agad ang kahina-hinalang pagbebenta ng produkto. Sa mga negosyante, sumunod sa batasโ€”walang puwang ang panlalamang.โ€

The suspects will face charges for violation of Section 10 (a) and (k) in relation to Section 12 of Republic Act 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, for the manufacture, importation, distribution, sale, or offering for sale of unregistered food products and operating without the necessary license to operate.

The PNP assures continued operations against illegal and unsafe products as part of its commitment to Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

โ‚ฑ6.6M ILLEGAL FOOD HAUL IN PRO3 OPS; 2 NABBED IN BULACAN, TARLAC

Camp Capt. Julian Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga โ€” A total of โ‚ฑ6.6 million worth of illegal and expired food products were seized in two separate but coordinated operations in Bulacan and Tarlac, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and reinforcing intensified efforts to protect public health and consumer welfare in Central Luzon.

On March 25, 2026, at about 3:40 PM, joint operatives led by the Regional Intelligence Divisionโ€“Regional Special Operations Group 3 (RID-RSOG3), together with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Regional Field Office 3, BPLO Marilao, CIDG PFU Bulacan, RMFB3, and Marilao MPS, conducted an inspection at a warehouse in Brgy. Patubig, Marilao, Bulacan.

The operation resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old Chinese national warehouse manager for violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines (RA 7394) in relation to the Food Safety Act (RA 10611), local ordinance, and other applicable laws. Authorities discovered large volumes of imported food itemsโ€”including cured meat, oils, sauces, bamboo shoots, noodles, and syrup productsโ€”all lacking proper documentation on delivery, procurement, and regulatory compliance, with an estimated value of โ‚ฑ5 million.

In a separate operation on March 24, 2026, at about 5:00 PM, joint elements of RID-RSOG3, FDA RFO3, CIDG PFU Tarlac, RMFB3, and Bamban MPS conducted a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Anupul, Bamban, Tarlac, leading to the arrest of a 64-year-old barangay councilor for selling expired food products in violation of RA 7394 and the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 (RA 9711).

Recovered during the operation were nearly 19,800 pieces of expired assorted noodles, along with various snack items and consumer goods, with a total estimated value of โ‚ฑ1.6 million.

All arrested individuals and confiscated items are now under the custody of authorities for documentation and proper legal disposition, while appropriate charges are being prepared.

PRO3 Director PBGEN Jess B Mendez emphasized the importance of sustained operations against illegal goods that pose risks to public health.

โ€œHindi natin papayagan na malagay sa panganib ang kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan dahil sa pagbebenta ng mga iligal at expired na produkto. These operations reflect our firm commitment to enforce consumer protection laws and hold violators accountable.โ€

He added that the operations are aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda of PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., particularly in strengthening law enforcement against economic and public safety threats.

โ€œWe will continue to intensify our efforts through coordinated and intelligence-driven operations, in close partnership with regulatory agencies, to ensure that only safe and compliant products reach the public," the top cop of Central Luzon furthered.
