Dr. Bienvenido B. Constantino, Jr., a music professor of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, served as resource speaker in the 2026 Music Camp of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists. The music camp was conducted in Batac City, Ilocos Norte on May 21 to 24, 2026.

The activity formed part of the 53rd NAMCYA Padayaw 2026 Music Camp Series, which gathered young artists, conductors, educators, and music practitioners from different parts of the Philippines for workshops, masterclasses, dialogue sessions, and collaborative learning activities.

Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), through the Lam-ang Institute, led the formal establishment of the Amianan Consortium during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding hosted by the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) at the Admirals Park Event Center in Lamtang, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet on May 19, 2026.

The Lam-ang Institute, DMMMSUโ€™s Indigenous and Social Science Research Center, initiated the consortium as a research and academic platform for higher education institutions working on northern Philippine cultures, Indigenous knowledge systems, social science research, cultural development, and academic exchange.

The Amianan Consortium brings together 16 private and state higher education institutions from Regions 1 and 2, and the Cordillera Administrative Region. For the member institutions, โ€œAmiananโ€ refers to a wider cultural space in Northern Luzon, shaped by shared histories, languages, communities, and knowledge systems across the region.

Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC), through the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) and its PhD in Science Education Program, conducted an extension training for public school teachers in Laoag City on May 21โ€“22, 2026.

The training was implemented under Project SCIENCE (Science, Competency, Instructional Empowerment, and Capability Enhancement), the Collegeโ€™s extension initiative under its memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education-Schools Division of Ilocos Norte. The two-day training session provided teachers with practical strategies for science instruction and disaster readiness education.
