JUST IN|| Tulo katawo an namatay ha natabo nga sunog ha usa nga balay ha Brgy. District 1, Babatngon, Leyte banda ala una kanina han maagahun Disyembre 27.

Sumala ha BFP, nakaturog an 34 anyos nga babaye nga biktima ngan mga anak nga kababayin-an edad 13 ngan 8 anyos han matabo an sunog.

Han mag deklarar nga fireout an sunog, didto na nadiskubrehan an mga biktima nga na trap ha sulod han balay.

Ginaadman pa an kawsa han sunog nga labot la han tulo nga naawat, nagbilin ini hin 1.3 million pesos nga danyos.

Leyte Police Arrests Local Official for Graft Charges

CAMP KANGLEON, PALO, LEYTE β€” In line with the intensified anti-corruption campaign of PGEN ROMMEL FRANCISCO D MARBIL, Chief, Philippine National Police, the Police Regional Office 8 accomplished a significant legal breakthrough with the arrest of a public official facing graft charges in Brgy. Naga-asan, Babatngon, Leyte on April 23, 2025.

The operatives of Babatngon Municipal Police Station arrested the accused identified as "Sarah," 62 years old, married, a public official, and a resident of Babatngon, Leyte.

She was apprehended based on a Warrant of Arrest for violation of Section 3 (e) of Republic Act 3019, also known as the β€œAnti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act,” issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 44, Tacloban City. The court recommended bail was set at Php90,000.00.

PBGEN JAY R CUMIGAD, PRO 8 Regional Director, commended the operating team for their diligence and professionalism in executing the warrant.

β€œThis arrest is a testament to our commitment to the PNP's program of honest governance and public accountability. We will not hesitate to hold any public official accountable, regardless of their position. Our people deserve clean and trustworthy public service,” PBGEN CUMIGAD said.

The accused was brought to Babatngon MPS for documentation and proper disposition prior to turnover to the issuing court.
