Meet Mdpn. Ram Angelo T. Escander
From the proud community of Brgy. Mojon, San Jose, Antique rises a young man whose journey is built on discipline, leadership, perseverance, and excellence, Mdpn. Ram Angelo T. Escander, a future maritime professional, taekwondo athlete, and student leader making Antique proud on and off the mat.
Born to SFO2 Ramil B. Escander and Emelle T. Escander, Ram Angelo continues to prove that success is achieved through hard work, courage, and determination. Currently taking up Classroom Completion Instruction (CCI) leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Maritime Transportation at John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University in Iloilo City, he has become one of the institutionโs most respected student leaders and athletes.
Beyond academics, Ram Angelo found his passion in Taekwondo, where he developed the discipline and fighting spirit that shaped his character. Through years of dedication and sacrifice, he earned remarkable achievements in regional competitions, including being crowned ILOPRISAA 2026 Gold Medalist in Taekwondo Kyurugi, WVPRISAA 2026 Silver Medalist, ILOPRISAA 2024 Silver Medalist, and multiple bronze medals in Poomsae competitions.
His leadership journey is equally inspiring. He served as SEC Senator, SEC Senate President, and currently as SEC-CME Governor. Within the Vanguards Society, he rose from Assistant Secretary General to Secretary General and now serves as President. He also became Vice President of DRRU and eventually Head of the Search and Rescue Unit, while simultaneously leading as Team Captain of the JBLFMU Taekwondo Team from 2023 to 2026.
Because of his commitment to excellence, Ram Angelo received numerous honors and recognitions including Most Outstanding Student in Co-Curricular Activities, Athlete of the Year for Taekwondo, SSG Exemplary Service Awardee, Vanguards Society Exemplary Service Awardee, and multiple Academic Excellence Awards from 2023 to 2026. He was also recognized as a semi-finalist in The Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards (TOSIA), proving his impact both academically and in leadership.
His achievements were further supported through scholarships he earned through dedication and merit, including being a 100% Sports Scholar in Taekwondo, 100% Student Aide Scholar, 50% Academic Scholar, and a Company Sponsored Scholar under Bouvet Shipping Management Corporation.
Despite the many accomplishments, Ram Angelo remains grounded in the values he strongly believes in, Integrity, Perseverance, Excellence, Discipline, and Godliness, principles that continue to guide his journey toward becoming a future maritime leader.
As part of Class Sinagtala of 2026, D/C Ram Angelo T. Escander stands as a shining example of what the youth of Antique can achieve through passion, service, and unwavering determination. His story continues to inspire fellow students, athletes, and future leaders to dream bigger and rise higher.
