United Nations Week starts on October 18 and runs up to October 24 every year. This day has been celebrated annually since 2003. Presently made up of 193 member states, including the Philippines, the U.N. has evolved throughout the years to keep up with an ever-changing world, but its work is still guided by the principles held within its founding charter. It’s the one place on Earth where all nations can come together, discuss problems, and find a solution that benefits everyone.

Ipinagdiwang ng ACNHS ang Buwan ng Kasaysayan sa pamamagitang ng iba’t ibang Culminating Activities na nilahukan ng mga mag-aaral sa iba’t-ibang baitang gaya ng sabayang pagbigkas, pagsusulat ng tula, paggawa ng poster at slogan at mga classroom based activities.

Gaganapin din ang flag disposal ngayong araw upang bigyan ng huling parangal at respeto ang mga watawat na hindi na maaring gamitin.

𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗔𝗛𝗨𝗟𝗨𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗪 𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗚𝗔 𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗜!

Gugunitain ang Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani (National Heroes Day) ngayong araw, 26 Agosto 2024, sa Libingan ng mga Bayani sa Lungsod ng Taguig. Ang tema ngayong taon ay "Kabayanihan ng Pilipino sa Panahon ng Pagbabago."

Pangungunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. ang seremonya ng pagtataas ng watawat at pag-aalay ng bulaklak sa Puntod ng Di-Kilalang Sundalo (Tomb of the Unknown Soldier). Sasamahan siya ng mga opisyal at kawani mula sa pambansa at lokal na tanggapan.

Nagsimulang gunitain ang mga bayaning Pilipino noong 1898 nang gawing pista opisyal ni Pangulong Emilio Aguinaldo ang 30 Disyembre upang maging araw ng pagluluksa para kay Jose Rizal at sa mga makabayang Pilipino na namatay sa pakikibaka laban sa mga Espanyol. Itinuring din bilang araw para sa mga bayani ang anibersaryo ng kapanganakan ni Andres Bonifacio nang maging pista opisyal ito sa bisa ng Batas Blg. 2946 (16 Pebrero 1921).

Nagkaroon lamang ng hiwalay na Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani sa bisa ng Batas Blg. 3827 (28 Oktubre 1931). Inilagay ito sa huling Linggo ng Agosto, tila upang masaklaw ang Unang Sigaw at Unang Labanan ng Himagsikan sa dulo ng Agosto 1896.

Gayunman, ipinagpatuloy ang paggunita ng Araw ng mga Bayani sa Nobyembre hanggang 1952, nang isang lupon para rito ang nilikha sa pamamagitan ng Kautusang Administratibo Blg. 190 (11 Agosto 1952). Sa bisa ng Batas ng Republika Blg. 9492 (24 Hulyo 2007), inilipat sa huling Lunes ng Agosto ang paggunita.

Ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Kasaysayan na nilikha ng Proklamasyon Blg. 339 (16 Pebrero 2012) ay nakaangkla sa paggunita ng Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani.

National Heroes Day 2024

In celebration of National Heroes Day, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas honors the bravery and patriotism of Filipino heroes by highlighting the 100,000-Piso Centennial commemorative notes from its numismatic collection. This largest Philippine commemorative banknote was printed in 1998 to celebrate the centennial of Philippine Independence. The obverse of the note showcases a symbolic scene of the struggle for Philippine Independence in 1896 - the Sigaw ng Himagsikan led by Andres Bonifacio, the supremo of the Katipunan. While the reverse features the proclamation of the Philippine Independence led by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo on 12 June 1898, in Kawit, Cavite. Only 1000 pieces of this banknote were printed.
