With solemnity and pride, the Hundred Islands Film Festival has officially opened, a grand celebration of cinema, culture, and creativity in Alaminos City.
The program commenced with hymns and invocations, followed by the Opening Remarks of Mr. Miguel L. Sison, CGDH-I of ACTCAO, who underscored the cityโs dedication to nurturing the arts and empowering local storytellers.
A highlight of the ceremony was the message of Hon. Arth Bryan C. Celeste, City Mayor, whose heartfelt words were conveyed through a video presentation. His message affirmed the cityโs unwavering support for the arts and its vision of making Alaminos a beacon of cultural excellence. Hon. Apple Joy Bagay-Tolentino also shared her encouragement, while Hon. Jose Antonio Miguel Perez, City Vice Mayor, was ably represented by Mr. Hecson Lee de Vera, further strengthening the cityโs united commitment to cultural advancement.
The education sector likewise lent its strong presence. Mr. Rey B. Pascua, Principal II and OIC-Office of the School Principal IV, together with Dr. Ely Ubaldo, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent, expressed their steadfast support for the festival as a platform for learning, creativity, and cultural enrichment. Their participation underscored the vital partnership between education and the arts in shaping the future of our youth.
The Special Program in the Arts of Alaminos City National High School showcased youthful talent, bringing vibrance and artistry to the opening. Festival Director Dr. Raquel Rarang-Rivera and filmmaker Carlo Obispo, director of A Lab Story, illuminated the vision of HIFF as a vessel for stories that honor heritage and imagination.
The opening film A Lab Story set the tone for this yearโs celebration, reminding us that cinema is not only entertainment but a powerful medium of identity and inspiration.
ACTCAO proudly celebrates this milestone, committed to nurturing the arts and empowering local voices. Truly, HIFF 2026 begins as a beacon of creativity, proving once more that the Hundred Islands is not only a natural wonder but also a sanctuary of storytelling brilliance.
