Luna and Sol should still be in the Amazon with their mother.

These two jaguar cubs were recently confiscated in Peru after being taken from the wild, destined for the illegal wildlife trade. At this age, jaguar cubs rely completely on their mothers to survive. When traffickers take cubs like these, the mother is often killed trying to defend them.

Now Luna and Sol are safe from traffickers… but they have nowhere permanent to go.

Facilities capable of caring for large predators like jaguars are extremely limited in Peru, and rescue centers are already overwhelmed. Situations like this reveal a major gap in wildlife protection: animals are rescued from traffickers, but there are not enough rehabilitation centers equipped to care for them.

At ARCA, we believe wildlife deserves more than survival, they deserve a future. That’s why we are working to build a new conservation and rehabilitation center in the Peruvian Amazon dedicated to giving animals like Luna and Sol the care and second chance they deserve.

The illegal wildlife trade continues to steal animals from the forest every day. But with the right support, we can build the facilities needed to fight back.

If you want to help animals like Luna and Sol, consider supporting ARCA’s mission.

The price of gold is rising again, and with it we’re seeing a surge of mining operations spreading through the rivers of the Peruvian Amazon. What many people don’t realize is that these mines don’t just scar the landscape, they poison entire ecosystems. Mercury and sediment choke the rivers, destroy breeding grounds, and strip the forest of life.

I’ve spent years working in the jungle here, and the difference in areas with heavy mining is impossible to ignore. Places that once felt alive with birds, monkeys, reptiles, and insects have changed dramatically. The sounds of wildlife that once filled the forest are being replaced by the constant noise of heavy machinery running day and night.

When the forest loses its wildlife, it’s a warning sign that the ecosystem itself is collapsing.

The Amazon is one of the most important wildlife strongholds on Earth, but the pressure from gold mining is growing every year.

The jungle is telling us something is wrong. We need to start listening.

Two-toed sloths were recently added to CITES protections, meaning international trade is now regulated. This is a critical step in combating the growing trafficking of sloths for the pet trade and tourist photos. With stronger protections, authorities can better intercept trafficked animals and ensure rescued sloths have a chance at rehabilitation and release. 🦥 Support ARCA’s Sloth Initiative and donate today to help sloths in the Peruvian Amazon return to the jungle where they belong.

Wildlife trafficking continues to threaten many species across the Amazon, especially sloths. These animals are often taken from the forest then transported and sold into the illegal wildlife trade. The fear and stress they experience during this process is something no wild animal should endure.

At ARCA, we believe these animals deserve a second chance. Our mission is to rescue trafficked wildlife, provide proper rehabilitation, and return them to the forests where they belong whenever possible.

We are currently working to build a brand new wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility in the Peruvian Amazon dedicated to this mission.

With your support, we can give animals like these the opportunity to recover and one day return to the wild.

Together, we can help protect the wildlife of the Amazon.

Jaguars are regularly confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade in Peru. Cubs are taken from the wild to be sold as pets, and adults killed and trafficked for their body parts.

Every year authorities rescue jaguars… but there are very few facilities in the country with the capacity to house them, and almost none designed to rehabilitate them for potential release back into the Amazon.

Rescue is only the first step.

Without proper facilities, many confiscated animals have nowhere suitable to go.

That’s why we are building ARCA – the Amazon Rescue & Conservation Alliance.

Our goal is to create a large-scale rescue and rehabilitation center in the Peruvian Amazon that can provide proper care for confiscated wildlife and, whenever possible, prepare animals for a return to the wild where they belong.

But we can’t build it alone.

If you believe jaguars deserve a future in the Amazon, please consider supporting this mission.

These animals were stolen from the wild. Sadly some won’t survive the trauma. ARCA is working to build real solutions with our new conservation facility in the Peruvian Amazon. but it takes funding to make it happen. Your donation directly fuels protection for Amazonian wildlife. Be the reason one more animal gets saved.

This jaguar skin was photographed in a market. A stark reminder that illegal poaching is still impacting Iquitos and the wider Amazon. Every skin represents a life lost, a top predator removed, and an ecosystem pushed further out of balance. Despite wildlife laws, demand for jaguar parts continues to fuel illegal hunting and trafficking throughout the region.

ARCA is working to protect big cats and all Amazon wildlife through community education, conservation research, and on-the-ground collaboration that reduces pressure on wildlife at its source. Real protection comes from empowering local communities, strengthening conservation awareness, and ensuring living wildlife is worth more than anything sold in a market. The future of the Amazon depends on action, not silence. 🐆🌿
