Korikori tinana with Wellington Boxing Gym 🥊

Change of scenery for our wāhine today as we stepped out of the akomanga to move the tinana and try something different. You could feel the shift straight away - good energy, a few laughs and everyone finding their own rhythm!

Ngā mihi Coach Kahz for having us and running the session with our rangatahi 🙌🏽✨

Day 1 of Term 2. Lets goooooo 🔥

Today we welcome a new rōpū of wahine into our whanau.

As said by Aroha Puketapu, like the poutama tukutuku, this is a journey of learning and growth, and we will be here to support you every step of the way.

This term is about building confidence, strengthening skills, and creating pathways forward. Taking it one step at a time, with consistency, support, and intention.

We’re looking forward to what this term will bring 🙌🏽

Last week our team had the opportunity to visit Parliament.

It was a valuable experience to step into that space and deepen our understanding of the systems that shape our communities and the work we do. It gave us a chance to reflect on how our kaupapa connects into the bigger picture.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow together as a team.

Ko te ringa toi, he taonga tuku iho 🌿

Each term our wāhine get stuck into raranga and create their own tāpeka as part of their Level 4 journey, Te Pou Hono ki Toi through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.

It’s not something they just throw together. It takes time, patience and focus - learning the tikanga around raranga, to prepare the whenu, weave, and stick at it even when it gets hard. You see them really settle into the mahi and connect back to the whenua and their whakapapa while they’re doing it.

One of the best parts for us is graduation. Seeing them walk in wearing their own tāpeka, you just know what went into it. The effort, the growth, the commitment. You can see the pride in the way they carry themselves🎓🥺❤️

Take a look at our ataahua wāhine over the years!

💬 Whānau kōrero

Hearing from whānau like this means a lot to us! It’s a reminder that the mahi doesn’t just stay in the ruma, it carries through to home as well.

Ngā mihi for sharing 🫶🏽

Thank you to our emergency services who are bravely out in this severe weather, working tirelessly to protect and support our community during this declared State of Emergency. Your dedication and service mean so much to us all 💚🖤

To our Wainuiomata whānau, please stay safe, stay connected, and look out for one another. These conditions are challenging, but we are a strong and resilient community. Together, we will get through this.

If you are able, check in on neighbours, especially our vulnerable kaumatua and families who may need extra support.
Here is some important messaging from our local Hutt City Council Page

He mihi nui ki a koe, e te rangatira, Angus

Three years has come and gone quick but in that time you’ve become a huge part of TRM through the way you’ve led Whakamana Tāne Programme. The way you’ve shown up has always been real, backing our rangatahi, teaching them to hold their mana and creating a space where people felt safe to just be themselves.

You’ve always brought a good energy with you lifting the room while still keeping things grounded. That’s something our rangatahi, our team, and our hapori have all felt. It’s why people respect you and why so many look up to you. It’s not just the mahi either, it’s who you are and how you carry yourself. That’s what’s left a mark here.

We’re going to feel your absence e hoa - there’s no doubt it!

Ngā mihi nui for everything you’ve given over the last few years, it’s meant a lot to all of us. All the best for this next chapter and your new mahi, we know you’ll continue to make an impact wherever you go.

Mauri ora 🤎
