Why Good HR Advice Sometimes Doesn’t Land
Have you ever sat through training, read advice, or listened to someone explain a workplace issue and thought:
“This sounds clever… but what does it actually mean for us?”
Good workplace advice, training, and communication should not just sound impressive - it needs to make sense to the people receiving it.
Frontline staff and operators are often looking for practical, relatable, everyday language.
Many managers and leaders want examples, context, and enough detail to apply it confidently.
And yes - sometimes the research, models, theories, qualifications, and accreditations absolutely matter too.
The key is considering the audience.
I’ve written a short post about why good HR advice sometimes doesn’t land - and why keeping things as simple as possible (while still effective) often works best.

I know there will be different views on this one - what’s your experience? Do your people engage better with practical examples and everyday language, or do frameworks and models help land the message?
