Please remember that all our JP's are volunteers and give up their time to help you. What we can help you with:
Witness signatures on documents
Certify copies of documents (including email attachments and p

hone messages)
Take oaths, declarations, affidavits or affirmations
Confirm identity. Checklist for visiting a Justice of the Peace

Do not sign any of your documents – you may complete the details required but if the document needs to be witnessed, declared or sworn the Justice of the Peace must complete what is required and must personally see you sign it. You may wish to take some form of identification. It may not be required but it is as well to be prepared. If the documentation you are requiring originated outside New Zealand, check that a New Zealand Justice of the Peace can complete it for you. What kind of documentation is involved? Do you want a copy certified? Is it a statutory declaration, or an affidavit? Will the JP witness your signature? Is it a marriage dissolution (divorce) application? Is it a foreign document? Some documents can take more time than you expect.

There are some things people needing a J.P. need to note. If they want a printed copy of an original to be certified they must bring the original with them, or be able to show it on their smartphone screen.
