Dhye Thangchung Resettlement Project

So, this project is for resettlement of entire Dhye village to a new place called *Dhye Thangchung* which is threatened to its existence. Dhye village is one of the smallest, most beautiful, isolated and remote villages of the upper mustang. It lies under the Lo Ghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality, ward No-5 and about 20km east of Tsarang village. It is the village where ancient Loba life style

still exist because of its own traditions, cultures and nature beauty that remained untouched by the materialistic world even at the 21st century. The village is lying 3860m above the sea level and it has moderate weather in summer and serve cold in winter. Dhye villagers are very simple, poor, uneducated and they cannot able to send their children in proper school to enhance their future because of poverty. Agriculture and keeping domestic animals are their main occupation and there is no alternative good source of income because of remoteness. Beside that the very unfortunate is that it has no small act of development till date. Thousands of tourists visit upper mustang but they hardly know where and how about this small beautiful village is. Barren land, occasional rainfalls are the main problems since villagers are totally depending on agriculture and domestic animals. Spring water that use for irrigation decreasing year by year. The productivily of grazing lands for goats, sheep and Yaks are shrinking and more 60% of cultivable lands have abandoned as a result of less and uneven snowfall and rainfall. These all are happening because of the effects of climate change. Therefore, Dhye villagers are living at the edge of survival and they are afraid that the existence of it is coming into big threat. So, we have finally sought out a new place for resettlement of entire village called "Thangchung" which is territorially belongs to Dhye village where water is abundant. Therefore, Dhye villagers are heartily requesting to all concerned organizations, institutes and individuals for your immedaite financial and technical support.
